I don't currently do bible journaling, but I would like a bible to take notes and maybe add some decorative lettering. I doubt if I will ever do full-on gesso and paint.
I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a bible? I am a new churchgoer, newly baptized, peace-type non-evangelical church. I come away every Sunday with inspiration I would like to write down, and a journaling bible would be perfect, but I'm overwhelmed with what to get.

Here are a few things I used on almost every page:
*Ranger multi-medium matte (I don't like using gesso) *Flower stamps *Colored pencils for highlighting scripture *Glue stick *Alpha stamps off all sorts *Watercolors *Pigma micron black pens (because they are waterproof) *Archival ink (because it is waterproof)
I am sure I am forgetting something. LOL!

@patter, do you use the Multi Matte Medium like a gesso under your watercolor to coat the page?

Oh, good, when I saw the title I was hoping that @patter would jump in.
I have a bag here at the office right now. Let me see what I have in there. Washi, fat and skinny kind Faber Castell Big Brush markers (used for highlighting passages. I have used them to color a stamp when I didn't have ink) Ink pad Alpha stickers Alpha stamps watercolors Gouache Paint set(this is new) Illustrated Faith marker, not necessary but what I have in my bag adhesive tape runner I also have some downloaded printables and scissors in there cute homemade paper clips to keep my pages marked

Are you talking about just writing, or also journaling? There is a Facebook group on bible journaling- journaling bible community. I am just a beginner, still trying techniques. The Bible I read is different from my journaling bible. As you will see, some bi le journalists completely cover the page. My favorite tip I have learned is to use deli papers . I. Can cut them to fit my margin, decorate them and then deco podge them in and you really can't tell that I did not do it on the page itself.
as far as the Bible to read, what one does your church use? you might ask your pastor about a good study Bible. hey study Bible times to give you historical connection and liinks to other parts of the Bible
Good luck in your studies and exploration

@patter , do you use the Multi Matte Medium like a gesso under your watercolor to coat the page? Yes I use it like gesso. Gesso has too much tooth for me. I prefer using the Multi Matte Medium in my Bible. I just put it in the margin. I do not like covering His word with illustrations. scrapaddie, I shared how to use deli paper. I haven't been to the site in a while but maybe it is finally catching on. Here you can see one of my tutorials about deli paper. triplethescraps.blogspot.com/2016/08/journaling-bible-psalm-1914-and-deli.html

I like the Sharpie gel highlighters, they don't bleed through thin paper like in Bibles. link

Thanks for all the tips. Looking for journaling pens that will not bleed through.
