"Our little boy" - a 9+ year old Golden Retriever, Sammy, is very sick. He hasn't eaten anything since Saturday morning and when he drinks water, he throws up. I think he also may have hip dysplasia. He can hardly get up to go outside and do his business. DH and I have been up and down with him all night long. We could use your prayers and positive thoughts on what we are up against today. We are headed to the vet as soon as they open in less than an hour. Thanks a bunch!
AFTER VET APPT: He is dehydrated which I "assumed". He's getting an IV. But she (the vet) also found out he is diabetic, has pancreatitis. liver is not function corrected and low white blood cell. She seems to think once he is re-hydrated that the others will take care of themselves (maybe not the diabetic). We had been to the vet four week ago for an itch problem and all of his blood work was normal. She couldn't believe this at all. They are keeping him until Wednesday but will call later tonight with an update. Our other dog (another Golden and older) keeps looking for his "brother". I lost without him and my DH is really lost without him because Sammy follows DH EVERYWHERE (even to the bathroom).
Thanks again for all the prayers and positive thoughts - they are really need now and greatly appreciated.

It’s with a heavy heart that Woody and I have to let you know that we have lost one of our beloved furbabies, Sammy passed away this a.m. from complications of diabetes and pancreatitis. It came on very sudden this weekend and we took him to the doggie hospital yesterday. We had hopes that he would return to us to “sneeze”, “snort” and “bark” which he did every morning to wake us up to feed him. He used to do a little jig when I rubbed his hips which I called the Hokey Pokey – I had wanted a video of that but I’ve waited too late. So whatever you do tonight, hug and love your two legged babies and also give a love and hugs to your four legged furbabies. We had Sammy for 9 years as of August 6th, he will be sorely missed.
Thanks again for all the prayers and positive thoughts!
