I think I should have gone with the clip on kind.
The flex is counting my arm movements even while I'm sitting watching TV. I had 300 steps and I hadn't left the couch. I put it on my non-dominant wrist and even changed to the settings but it still counts random movements.
I was worried the clip on one would bother me or I would forget it, but this one is bugging me cause I know it's not accurate.
If you have the flex, how do you accomodate for this issue? Or do you just accept it and up your step count? I bet I had 1,000 extra steps yesterday.

It doesn't really bother me, although I don't think I would ever get to 1,000 extra steps! I KNOW that I would wash, lose, drop in the pool, etc. the other fitbit. That's just how I roll. So the Flex suits me. My brother and sil have the clip on ones and they love them. But they are also the type that wouldn't angst over replacing a lost/drowned one.

Did you get it somewhere that you can take it back and exchange it? I like the accuracy of the One.

I would take it back if it was that inaccurate.

Mine doesn't seem to be that sensitive. Did they have any suggestions on the FitBit message boards?

I have had my One (before that the Ultra) for over two years and never lost or damaged either one. The only problem that I have had it the clip on the Ultra kept breaking and that is why I switched to the One. You just become aware that it is there and check occasionally to be sure it hasn't come off. If is rare for it to work its way off the waistband or pocket. It usually is pretty secure unless you have it on a thick waistband and are doing things like carrying and putting out mulch. That was when mine came off and one time in the car. I am very happy with it and feel that it is very accurate.

The regular people who post there were very nice. I gave up on Fitbit and got a Nike Fuelband. No more problems of any kind.

My flex refuses to count my steps on the treadmill right now. This is my 3rd flex. I have another one that attaches to my pocket or something and I might go back to it. I wonder if I can find it now. The thing I like about the flex is that I wear it on my wrist. It is easy for me to put it on and off and NOT wash it in the laundry. I do understand where you are coming from, though.

I hadn't set my stride length yet so maybe that's why it's picking up such small movements. Someone mentioned that in my other post about my Fitbit but I forgot to do it.
I'm going to give it another day and see if that makes a difference.

Is it tight on your wrist? That might make it more sensitive.
I haven't noticed mine counting arm movements- unless I force it with big, violent, swings.
I wear brackets a little loose, and same with Flex.

But there's also a board there where a customer support person is *supposed* to help you. I never saw much evidence of that though. ugh. VERY happy with my Nike Fuelband. lol

I am very happy with it and feel that it is very accurate. (I just love that little guy!) I've had my One for almost 2 years. I clip it to my front pants pocket (or waistband on exercise pants/shorts or something that doesn't have pockets), and it's never fallen off my clothes or out of the holder. I know some people (like my mom) who clip it on the same place but have the actual unit IN the pocket, just in case it falls off. But I've never heard of it happening. The only time I've had a panic moment about it was when I realized I hadn't put it back where I keep it at night, and realized I hadn't taken it off my pants the day before. It was still clipped to them in the laundry. So for the next few nights, I put a post-it note on my bathroom mirror that just said "Fitbit" and that reminded me to check for it before I went to bed. I'm not familiar with the Flex as much, but I wonder if there's a sensitivity setting somewhere for it? It doesn't seem that it should count random movement as steps. But I've always been happy with the One's ability to accurately count steps. Perhaps it would be worth returning the Flex and going with a clip-on option.

That's just one of the reasons I returned mt Fitbit Flex. It just didn't work for my activities.
I am just a walker for exercise and I found it to be very hot and sweaty. It just totally bugged me.
I sometimes use a treadmill, but need to use the side grab bars when walking fast or using a steep incline -so the steps didn't count.
I talk with my hands (and apparently I do that A LOT!) and I had lots of "steps" while sitting.
I also felt the band was very noticeable. It made me feel like I had the wrist version of an ankle monitor!
I returned it and bought a Fitbit One. It's very secure. When I clip it onto my bra, I push it on very firmly. It's easy to visually see that it's all the way on.
The Fitbit One is the best option for me and I really like it.

I bought the Flex from Best Buy and promptly returned it for the same reason. I'm on the computer all day and it kept registering my hand/wrist/arm movements as steps. I exchanged it for the One, which I clip to the front of my bra. I love it and it works like a charm!

I have a regular pedometer and I wear it in my bra. I never have to worry about it falling out and it inspires me to take more steps.

I have the one and I too clip it on the front pocket of my jeans. Have never lost or forgotten it and washed it. Now If I could only find where my cat hid my charger for it. I know he carted it off I am missing my glasses too The little thief.

I got a Flex to replace my still working One. I used them for a few days together and they were surprisingly close. Not exact, but with in 20-30 steps, so I don't think my Flex is doing me a disservice on step count.
You're supposed to wear it on the non-dominant hand, make sure you set your stride, and there is a setting for sensitivity too I think.

It's the reason mine is sitting uncharged. I type on the computer at work ... amazing how many steps it logged. Then when I drove I had to click on the DriveBit app so it didn't count when I turned the steering wheel. And I had it on my non-dominant hand (though in typing/office work that's a non-issue. Very disappointed.

I had a FitBit One and ended up sending it back to Amazon. For starters, it stopped working about a week after I got it. Wouldn't sync with my computer or my phone. I reset it, rebooted it, called CS, everything. Secondly, it really wasn't giving me that much information. I am a runner and run pretty much every day. I also go up and down stairs pretty much all day at work. So I was easily getting in 10,000 steps. And I have a TomTom running watch (I used a Garmin then) to give me my running stats. When it stopped syncing, I just decided to send it back and get a refund.

My problem is it doesn't count all my steps! When I'm pushing a grocery cart or holding my purse on my shoulder- those steps aren't counted. The other issue with mine is people ask me about it ALL. THE. TIME. It makes me feel very self conscious. I really wish that I had gotten one that I could just clip on my bra.

I bought the flex and, like you, decided it wasn't for me. Adding steps when I sit and not counting them when I walk. I wished I had gone with the one.
Now, I just take the little fitbit out of the wristband and put it in my bra each day. Accurate and doesn't show. Also, when I get undressed I don't forget it because it will fall to the floor if I do!

I adore my Fitbit One. It's an upgrade from my original Ultra that I had for two years and the only reason I upgraded was I wanted to be able to sync with my smartphone. The Ultra was still going strong when I upgraded. I usually put my One in my pocket or I clip it to my bra if I don't have pockets. I don't clip it to my waist. I'm not big on bracelets so I wasn't interested in either the Flex or the Force and I've been completely happy with my upgrade to the One. I don't care that it may not be 100% accurate...what's important to me is that it holds me accountable to keep moving and even if it was off even a 1,000 steps (which I highly doubt), I'm keeping active and that is whats important.

Try Bodymedia. It is what they use on Biggest Loser. I have had mine almost two years and the accuracy has never been off. If you are interested, peamail me for a reference.

I have a Fitbit Zip and have been very happy with it. It is not waterproof but it is water resistant. Yesterday, I forgot about it and got in the pool with it on. I realized it pretty quick and it survived so I was impressed.

My Fitbit Flex does not register my arm movements. I wonder if you need to reset yours completely? Trust me I've tried tricking it and moving my arms or laying on the couch and moving my feet and it does not register any steps at all!
