I'm looking at different camera bundles and most come with a zoom lens and kit lens, but some come with a telephoto lens that is described as one that you can put on your other lens for larger field of distance (probably not the right wording there). What are the benefits of either? I typically use a kit or zoom lens but am wondering if the telephoto would be handier to use than having to switch between a kit and zoom lens? Any suggestions?

I guess I am a little confused.
I tend to use the terms interchangeably. A zoom lens is one that can change distance, like from 35 to 100. A telephoto lens is one that can see details up close. It can be a zoom or a fixed lens.
As for attaching one lens to another, I would think that there is a chance the details won't be as crisp because there may be a gap between the two lenses causing some distortion.

I do not understand when you say the telephoto lens is put on another lens. The only lens I know that you would put on another lens is a teleconverter.
The terms are not necessarily interchangeable. A zoom can be a telephoto lens if it is maybe 200mm and up (eg. I have a 150-600mm). But prime telephoto lenses like my 300mm are not zooms because they do not change focal lengths. Also, a zoom might be 10-24mm which is good for landscape, giving a broad scope for the photo, but it does not make anything bigger in the frame like a telephoto lens does.

I was confused as well. This is what it says about the lens.

That is a converter. It screws on to the front of your lenses. Usually, the results are not as good because it may cause some distortions. You would be better off getting a fixed or zoom lens.

Well, typically fixed length or shorter lenses have better quality but I hate changing lenses. I have an 18-55 and it does most of what I need and if you don't have vibration reduction the longer lens pics on a telephoto lens may not be as sharp as you would like. But, honestly, I rarely change lenses (hassle).

50mm is considered standard, so anything more than 50 is telephoto & less than 50 is wide angle. Zoom just means it has a range of lengths (ie 70-200), while a fixed lens only has one length (ie 100).
I've never heard of a screw-on lens that was any good (except t/c but that's different).
Where are you finding this deal?

Ok I went back & read it again. Putting a wide angle onto another lens makes no sense to me.
