I searched and couldn't find...so...
Anyone else go? Thoughts? We went on Turkey Day and, although it took me a bit to get into it, I ended up LOVING it! The animation is of course spectacular, the story line is empowering and far-reaching, and we are totally digging the soundtrack (already downloaded it and have been listening all day). I guess I didn't know, but Lin-Manuel Miranda worked on it, and you can definitely hear a Hamilton vibe in many of the songs.
Anyway-I hope some other peas chime in. I was moved to tears, but, I am a sucker for anything that involves Islander culture.
Apologies if I missed a Moana thread.
Cheers! Erin
ETA- oh, and who knew the Rock could sing?!?

I wanted to go see this on Thanksgiving Day but couldn't convince my 20 yo DD to go, so I didn't go (YET! ). Thanks for the positive review tenacious!

We saw it and loved it as well. I don't think it will catch on quite the same way Frozen did, lol, but the music is catchy and the animation is incredible. I also thought it was very respectful of Polynesian culture. I know there was a big brouhaha about the Halloween costumes released in conjunction with the movie being culturally insensitive, but the movie is well done.

One of my favorite movies of the year! I love that Lin-Manuel was on the music team - you could definitely hear it.

Oh, I am glad I am not the only one who loved it. I agree that it will probably not be as popular as Frozen, It is a very different type of movie--more in the Lion King vein, but, I hope people will appreciate the beauty of the message. Not sure if this will work, but, here is a link to 107 facts about Moana. Long, but, really interesting! m.youtube.com/watch?v=iuJlvisbnqUErin

We were fortunate enough to get to see it on our Disney cruise this week--DD and DH saw it Wednesday night. We all went Thursday afternoon. We loved it. LOVED IT. We keep singing "You're WELCOME" every time we have to say that to each other. DD will be getting the soundtrack for Xmas. I was so impressed by the animation of the WATER. So incredible. Highly recommend it.

We were right near the movie theater at the right time to go see it today, but the lot was completely packed and I just didn't feel like going when it was so, so busy. So we'll go another day this week.

DD10 was off school on Wednesday and I asked her if she wanted me to take her and her friend who was with us to go see it - they both looked at me not saying a word. So I said, "So you are not interested in seeing this movie? How about judging it by the trailer first" They said, "We've seen the commercials - thanks but no thanks."
Tweens uninterested!

i have a rule and do not go to new movies. too many people, which can be avoided if we just wait a couple of weeks (i also despise boxing day shopping... same reason... lol!) i am looking forward to moana and i am kinda hoping to see a bit of the lilo and stitch thing (beautiful music and cool "location"). i am a fan of the rock and his voice makes me smile. lots of new movies that look good... the kids wanna see dr strange and fantastic beasts and where you find them. good thing i have lots of points on my movie card!

Just saw it today and loved it. I thought it was really beautiful, I typically prefer regular animation to computer animation, but I thought this was really well done. It amazes me that Dusney can even give water a personality and emotion. I loved the story and the strong female character. Wish there had been more pig, but love the rooster.
The crab totally sounded like Bowie to me, anyone else think that? The music was great, naturally.
Hope everyone stayed for the post credit scene, if you haven't gone yet, be sure you do!

We are going tomorrow.
My daughter has already downloaded the soundtrack, had her voice teacher pick out the melody of her favorite song on piano and she has memorized the words...
She can't wait to sing How far I'll go at her lesson Wednesday.

I'll probably see it when it comes to Redbox. I love that there is no prince involved in rescuing a princess.

I want to see it but my kids are too young to sit through a movie theater experience so I'll have to see it in a few months. We saw a 4d preview at Disneyland and it was really awesome, I wish they'd do the whole movie with 4d, we got sprayed with water, bugs crawled under our seats and poked when spears flew, it was really fun.

Saw it yesterday and liked it. Thought some parts were slow but oeverally the movie was good and the animation was great! Love the tattoo guy coming alive and the chicken. Absolutely loved the end when she went up to the lava monster.
Took my 5 yo nephew and I think he thought it was good. He was a little antsy near the end but he did catch on to the grandmother and the stingray part. He did ask to watch it on Netflix today, lol, so he must've liked it.

Seriously, I am obsessed with this movie and soundtrack! I have been listening non-stop to the music all weekend. It is hauntingly beautiful. I saw a clip of Miranda acknowledging that he was inspired by David Bowie for 'Shiny.' No surprise there. My kids also picked up on that immediately.
DH and I are already planning on going back tot he theater to see it a second time.
To the PP that said she wasn't too excited to see it from the trailer--I agree. The trailers did not do it justice.
