The Tree of life in Raleigh.
The Holly Jolly Stroll. Our downtown business Decorate their storefront windows. On opening night they have carolers strolling through the streets, hot cocca and cookies. Very quaint, free and adorable.
Our churches Toy Drive. Delevering meals on Christmas eve.
Christmas Eve Service. Annual High school holiday concert.
Burgaw Holiday parade...reminds me of the ones we went to when I was young.
Wilmington holiday parade...love it hubby's squad is in it.
Making gingerbread houses.
Homemade gifts for friends and teachers. We spend one whole day, listening to Christmas music and making joy.
Light drive...everyone gets in comfy clothes. We grab our hot cocca and rice Krispy treat and drive around looking at the lights.
Airlie Gardens walking lighted holiday display. It's beautiful.
Prep and landing, elf, Christmas Vacation and The Grinch Movies nights. Popcorn, blankets and laughing...simple, family...LOVE.
Opening sister gifts on Christmas eve. Every year each daughter spends no more the 10$ on each sister. It's amazing what they come up with. I love that they all got the homemade, crafty, shop sale gene from me;)
Shopping for Dad gifts. Youngest love this, she has so really cool ideas to strech his budget this year.
Of course on Christmas day, Watching A Christmas Story.
Holiday Tradtions are memories we cherish and our girls (us also) look forward to. What about you and yours?

I always serve caramel rolls on Christmas morning. One year I completely forgot and DD never let me forget it!
Church on Christmas Eve, having our big holiday meal after service.
Christmas day we open gifts, stay in comfy clothes all day, watch Christmas movies, and eat only leftover and appetizers.
My mom makes a ridiculous number of Christmas cookies every year and gives them to all of us, so enjoying those is a big part of the holiday.

We also drive around looking at Christmas lights. For several years, my family and friends rented a school bus. The company provided the driver and bus (we got lucky with the same really great driver each year) and each person paid about $3. I would make a list and map, we all brought drinks and snacks and it was so great. Fund for all ages.
We celebrate Hanukkah, not Christmas so on Christmas I volunteer at a non-profit's Christmas dinner. This year my dgs and I are going the week before to a family homeless shelter to help with their Christmas program by helping the parents choose gifts for their kids among donated toys. I used to take my kids to volunteer at Christmas and hope this will be the beginning of something my grandson likes to do.

We have a wrapping paper fight during the gift opening.
Some friends and I do an ugly ornament exchange. You have to buy ugly ornaments as gifts for the others.

Oh, we love Prep and Landing.
Decorating the garlands. Making my favorite cheese ball. DH has a club holiday party we started attending last year. I do a Christmas card swap. Gift exchange with my parents on Christmas morning.

We are super lax about Christmas here. Lots of times I haven't gotten around to putting up a tree, or I put it up on Christmas eve.
That said, Ds gets one gift from Santa, wrapped in white paper with red ribbon. And Santa Mouse brings one small present wrapped in white paper with a yellow ribbon.
Everything else tends towards hit or miss. :-)
Works for us, as most holidays are a little off with us.

We do a Christmas card with a theme, e.g. Elf stealing Santa's cookies or at the mantle. We do an ornament from each child for grandmas and aunties. I might just do Michael's kits this year but in the past I've done painted ornaments with hand prints, salt dough with finger prints and photo ornaments from Michael's kits.

The only thing I try to do is get a picture of my kids on Christmas Eve. Life is too unpredictable in my home to stick to lots of Traditions every year. Getting the photo can be a giant PITA and that's enough stress for me.

Well, we're Jews. But we have traditions this month.
On Christmas, we host a deli brunch with rye, pastrami, pickles, bagels, matzoh ball soup, and chopped liver.
We have annual Christmas Day dinner reservations at the same Chinese restaurant every year.
We host a Hanukkah party for the kids' friends, with latkes, coffee barbecue sauce brisket, and desserts.
We go on our once-annual ice skating rink visit (I am the only one of the eight of us who can ice skate, ha ha).
Nutcracker, often multiple times (I have a kid in the PNB one this year, Seattlites!).
Trip to this specific garden center in the burbs for poinsettia plants and to see the decorations.
New Year's Eve = party for the friends of the oldest and homemade sushi for everyone.

Things have changed over the years as the kids have grown and as we have moved to different locations. But always I have the kids (and now their kids) with us on Christmas Eve. My favorite traditions were when we lived in Manhattan. After our annual seafood dinner, we would walk to the fire station and bring cookies to the firemen on duty, then walk to the tree at Rockefeller Center, and then go to St. Malachy's church.
Now that I'm no longer living in that particular area, we still have our fish dinner (pasta with seafood sauce and fried fish) and cookies and Baileys afterwards. Kids, grandkids, even my ex-husband and his girlfriend are here for that. Oh and we always have Christmas crackers at the meal and take a pic of us in our crowns.
