Dang $50 is a great price for the 6-in-1. Do you think a couple in their 70's would use this? I'm not sure if they are so stuck in their ways that they wouldn't try this. Is it a big learning curve? Because I have taught them how to use their smartphones about ten times now and they just can't comprehend it all. I think my Mom would use it for her mashed potatoes and maybe steam some veggies. But I'm not sure about meat. They are pretty regular with their boring dinners. She used to be a cook and caterer, so I wonder if she would experiment... Ah, I don't know!! What do you guys think?

I can't bring myself to part with my old trusty Crock Pot. Has anyone done it and regretted it? I donated my round Crock Pot but kept my oval-shaped Ninja. Sometimes it is easier to cook a chicken or turkey breast in the Ninja than the Instant Pot.

Did she ever use a traditional pressure cooker? My 70 year old MIL doesn't want an IP but it's because when she had a traditional PC, she only used it once a year to make mashed potatoes. So I guess it would depend on if they're coming into it with any bias or experience.

I have found the most help on the Instant Pot Community Facebook Group. hippressurecooking.com is also helpful. I find the Facebook group frustrating in that I have trouble searching for a recipe, etc. It has great info but if you see something you think you might want later, grab it (unless it's just me and I'm clueless about Facebook search skills). The "Learn to Pressure Cook" free class on Hip Pressure Cooking helped me a lot. I agree that HPC is the best site out there though others have incredible recipes too. It's actually pretty easy. Go to the group page, and near the top right you'll see a search bar. Type in a word or two that best fits what you're looking for..... say... mashed potato (I leave off endings on searches, so I'd try potato before potatoes.) That should pull up the posts/threads that have mashed potato in them. You can try different key words to catch different wordings by posters. I search a different group all the time for things I've seen. It's been really helpful.

Weeding through the group is definitely tedious, but the search feature works okay and I just save a link if I want to come back to it later. But I agree that it isn't the most efficient means of information distribution. OneNote is really easy to save things to. You just highlight what you want to copy and drag it onto OneNote. So fast.

But I have raved about my Crock Pot and she has no interest in it. So I guess I will pass. Off to find something else for this difficult to buy for person. As for me, I should be getting mine today! Only it's a gift so I can't use it til after Christmas. :/
