Do you guys like them or think they are kind of cheesy? My living room is relatively small, 15' x 25' and has golden oak trim. I have a cream sofa, giant brown leather chair (soon to go hopefully) and an oak bookcase that matches the design below. We do not have a fireplace.
I am in need of a new media stand. I lean traditional in my décor and this stand fits the dimensions I need. What say the peas?

I like them. DH hates them. If you enjoy it and can afford it, who cares if they're on trend? Thankfully, it's not a permanent alteration to your home.

Question 1: Do you like it? Question 2: See question 1
That's all that matters.

I personally dont like them. Just would be something to tear up, when you could just put the tv on a regular non electric needing cabinet(and have more room for storage) but if you like it then so be it get yourself one whether or not I like it shouldn't factor in

Never seen or heard of this.
I don't like it...the fire looks too fake and it just looks cheap overall.

I am really on the fence with the fireplace thing. I think it would be nice in the winter to have some more heat, then again I kind of think they are cheesy. I know my DH would like it though. I am trying to go with what the feel of the house is, instead of what I envision (which would be a grand estate!). I have plenty of living room storage already, so space isn't the big issue. I will have to sit and think about it some more.

When we were furniture shopping this summer we saw them everywhere! DH and I don't personally like them but obviously they are in demand.

We finally broke down and bought a flat screen TV this weekend. We looked at these at different locations and DH kind of liked them. I'm still on the fence and wished the "fire" looked a bit more real. But I come from a home with a large living room that had an almost solid wall of creek rock with wood fire place.
We have a small living room and that was our deciding factor. We are wall mounting the TV and using a small cabinet underneath for the cable boxes. We have an entertainment center there now that takes up most of that wall and makes the living room look even smaller than it is.
Do what you want! You are the one that lives with it, so embrace it if you like it!

DH and I are looking into getting one of these. We have a real fireplace, but no TV in that room. I know the fire is fake looking and I'm okay with that. I like the glow it gives and can always use a little extra warmth in the winter.

Personally, I love the looks of them! I don't think they are cheesy at all. But my fashion/style trends are usually way off from the present day norms! LOL! I do like them though, since I never lived in a house that had an actual fire place. So you can get the ambiance of one, without all the mess of wood shavings, ash, smoke, chimney cleaning and/or the hazards! And no, I don't own one. Could never justify the expense no matter how much I wanted one!

I wouldn't consider your living room small. I also do not have a fireplace and have considered buying a similar fake fireplace. It beats the fake TV video of a fire. Lol.
If you want one, get it. It's you who will be living with it.

We just ordered one for our place up north. I like the look of them and a little extra heat can't hurt. I say Go For It!

my sister has a custom made one and it looks really good. it's size is good for the room and it blends in with the walls because it is white and so are the walls.

We have a similar one in our sunroom and it is perfect for there. Love that it kicks out a little bit of heat. I say go for it.
PS: Our dog loves laying in front of it, and he looks so cute by firelight. I think he thinks it is real.

I have one. We bought it when we purchase new family room furniture. I like it. I would buy one for my bedroom if I didn't already have a hutch for the TV

We sold our home last year that had two wood burning fireplaces. We loved them and used them a lot. The home we live in now doesn't have a fireplace. We bought a large TV stand/fireplace at Costco last year. We love it and get a compliments on it.
