this poor kid
i know he's trying to make a statement
but i just don't know how he could have justified a shirt with Castro on it
i know that was a while back...but yesterday they played in miami right after castro died
and he interviewed shortly before we found out about castro
and he still defended the shirt...and malcolm x's meeting with fidel
will the 49rs finally get fed up with all this?

And Kaep should get a haircut, he looks ridiculous. ETA: I also agree with basketdiva ~ it's his right to say whatever he wants. And the media is just spreading the flames.

I watch football for the game and could careless about a player's political inclinations. The same as an actor's political leanings. It's only because of the media that t's a big deal. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Kap seems to forget he was adopted by a white middle class family in central California (far from an urban living situation). It's hard to believe he has experienced the angst that he feels strongly in defending, but hey its the US and he can do that kind of thing. And certainly, I have not walked in his shoes so cannot say without certainty that he has not experienced what he is protesting..but... Balke is absolutely missing the point on what a distraction Kap has become. Even if they try and dispute that - it is now a joke on what is the latest thing Kap is going to do today.

The 49ers will not do anything until/unless affects their bottom line. Until the, Kap can say pretty much whatever he wants.
I do believe with yesterdays loss they have now lost 10 in a row and if I heard correctly, that is the first time in the franchise history.

It's not hard to believe, IMO. It's the state of this country. White privilege is not permanently transferable from white parents to their non-white children, and any that he experienced as a child when viewed as an extension of his parents would disappear as he grew and the rest of the world simply viewed him as a black man. If anything perhaps going from childhood to adulthood and the way the world would view him was a little more startling to Kap given his background?
I am a white mother going through this with my non-white teenage sons right now. The idea that anyone can see my kind, honor roll, "good" young men as threatening simply due to the color of their skin is upsetting. But it's happening. I hear the stories from my sons on a regular basis.

I think Kap has every right to protest, but as some of his teammates have disclosed, not sure if its truly about the issues - or his desire to seek attention and a possible trade from the 49ers. There appears to be a doubt in his sincerety.

Kap seems to forget he was adopted by a white middle class family in central California (far from an urban living situation). actually he was adopted by a family in Fond du Lac Wisconsin - my high school hometown - same era at the time it was a very white area - and that might have influenced how he feels today - i dunno they moved west after a couple years - gina

Yes, he ended up in the central valley (Turlock, CA) went to high school with the kids of a former co-worker of mine. Big farming, agricultural area...so he has been raised in a diverse area, but not an urban area. Here's a story on the reaction of Turlock when he first started kneeling for the national anthem: Colin Kaepernick's Hometown Deeply Divided over QB's protest

As an east coaster whose teen has long considered the 49ers his favorite team, I'm subjected to the media coverage. Unfortunately, it appears Kaepernick's message is diluted with his support of a ruthless dictator, admission that he didn't vote in the recent election, & sincerity/motive questioned by teammates/people who know him.

Yup he has the right to be say and wear what he wants but he's douche bag and as a football fan I have the right to not like him or agree with him. Wearing that shirt in Miami makes me go .. Their record is now 1-10. He's only been starting QB for the last few games. It doesn't seem to have improved?

Not solely his fault, but he certainly is adding fuel to the media's fire about their poor performance this season.

Sorry, but "poor kid" and "Kaepernick" should not go together in a sentence. I live close to where the 49ers play, so we hear about him constantly. Personally, I think all this has just been an attention ploy to put him back in the spotlight (obviously no one knows but him, but I guess it's worked). I wish the Niners would release him and no one else would pick him up. He's repulsive.
