My family (dh, ds20, dd17, ds9) is headed to London next month to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. He wants to see some Premiere League Soccer so I think he's managed tickets for 2 games (trying to get them for a third) as well as a stadium tour. We are staying the entire time in Hyde Park and will probably spend 1 day in Paris. Can you recommend a special/memorable place that we can either do or go out to eat to celebrate his birthday. He's so hard to shop for so I'd prefer just to plan something as his gift. And if you have any other tips of things we should make sure we do, I'm open. We have a very loose itinerary at this time with a list of things we'd like to do so just trying to plan it out now. Also, if the boys are off doing something, I'd like to take my daughter to tea, but she's a vegan-womp womp womp. So any thoughts on that? I should mention that my dh travels to the UK on business quite often and the rest of us have never been.

Not quite answering your question, but I have been to vanillablack.co.uk vegetarian restaurant in London and it was very good. Also I think many of the "famous" afternoon tea places would cater for a vegan if given notice in advance.
ETA Vanilla Black also have a vegan menu.

My SIL is vegan and we have had tea at most of the big hotels in London, just make sure you let them know in advance.
The Ivy is always fun for a nice dinner out in London. Usually good people watching and not too pricey.
I love The Wolseley, or the Restaurant at the Globe... I think it is the Swan.

We were in London for four days last year. One of our favorite meals was at the Cinnamon Club. www.zagat.com/r/the-cinnamon-club-londonI had wanted to eat at the Sky Garden, really for the views/experience, but we couldn't get a table there. I don't think the food is supposed to be all that great though. skygarden.london/We loved the Tower of London, the British Museum and walking around checking out Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace. We had planned on taking in a show, but at the last minute connected with a distant family member who took us out to dinner and then to Ronnie Scott's Jazz club.
