It's gonna be a long 4 years. Hopefully it won't be 8! And everyone spent the last eight complaining about Obama. You didn't think it would stop when Trump got elected, did you?

Good thought, Lauren, although I don't expect it to work all that well here. Lots of Peas seem to have forgotten, or just have no concept, that the goal in life should be to be happy people. How does getting all worked up over politics, something we have little control over, fit into striving for happiness in our individual lives? You know what? I am happy. As a general rule, my default is happy. I also have the capacity, at times, to 'get worked up' about politics. Doesn't mean that I am a miserable old bat. It just means that I feel like I get to 'see something, say something.' Maybe as an individual I don't have a whole lot of control over what happens, but it is still my voice to use-happily. I will second this. Some of us are do-ers. I consider a day wasted if I haven't worked toward some positive change in the world around me. That makes me happy, not miserable. I do wish we didn't have an administration trying to punt us back into the dark ages, but that just means I have to be even more focused. I've been researching doctoral programs in education leadership and policy. It's time for me to stop talking about equity in public schools in online forums and get on the road toward being able to stand in front of congress as Dr. Merge to speak on behalf of our kids. That would make me happy.

I swear to God, you and Yubon are long lost twins separated by a political affiliation and an obsession with cats. Both of you like to spend a day or so going around the board riling people up with comments you know will be hateful/offensive, then end it with a happy go lucky "lighten up" thread. I'm simultaneously fascinated, exhausted and a tiny bit challenged to up my troll game by you two. ? Lauren's not a cat lady that I know of. Actually, I was thinking of Yubon when I was referring to the cat obsession.

I'm simultaneously fascinated, exhausted and a tiny bit challenged to up my troll game by you two. Years ago, I'd agree with you. But in all honesty, I don't see my comments being any more hateful or offensive than a great many other people's comments; especially on political threads. I think you tend to look at my posts through a lens that you don't apply to others. Well, I know from experience that there's no reasoning with you when you have a belief stuck in your head, so we will have to agree to disagree as to the tone of your posts on many political threads. I do look at your posts through the lens of a longtime lurker who has seen your actions and words play out for years, and yes, it colors my opinion of you. I have no problem owning that. However, for what it's worth, in my mind, you are not the only one whose past performance is indicative of current (and future) behavior, so please don't think I apply a special lens only to you (and don't think that it only applies to conservatives, because it doesn't). I keep rooting for you to change my perception, so maybe someday you will.

Based on other recent posts I'm assuming she meant the OP. I hope so! Or I may have to start a thread explaining why my feelings have been hurt and so am flouncing off in a huff, immediately followed by me rejoining under another name and giving the game away by my in depth knowledge of pea history.

I find it funny that some on the right are telling some on the left to lighten up after spending the past eight years gnashing their teeth over Obama and his every move. Every. F@cking. Move. So lefties, go on and voice your opinions. And please let this only be a one and done president.

I have to agree with Lauren perhaps lighten up is a little flippant but really are we going to have this saga ongoing for the next 4 years? I for one certainly hope not.
I guess the solution would be that if people are really that upset with the results then maybe, just maybe more people should have gone out and voted nan,d then perhaps the outcome may have been different.
Let's move on ladies, this is meant to be a fun, light social board (r so I thought) lets get back there and quickly.

Let's move on ladies, this is meant to be a fun, light social board Really...where does it say that? I must have missed that particular "rule" when I signed up. It's a message board, and it has never been for exclusively "fun and light" topics. Don't project your own feelings about what this place "should" be and expect everyone else to follow along. You only want to post on topics about unicorns and puppies and what's for dinner, then you go right ahead, but don't expect you can tell everyone else what they can talk about. Plus it's obviously escaped your attention that the OP of this thread does EXACTLY what you are complaining about - starts multiple threads about politics, her racist views, her entitlement issues etc on an almost daily basis. Her telling everyone in capitals to "lighten up" is beyond hypocritical.

Actually yes, this will probably continue until the egomaniac and his partner are out of the White House. But by all means feel free to skip right over the political threads. Also, I would bet that any pea who is upset with the current outcome and is posting about it HAS voted. In fact many of us not only voted, we campaigned, donated and did many other things to help our party. So take your smug smarmy attitude and stuff it.

It's funny to me that the ones who claim they don't want to talk about politics are the ones jumping on these threads to tell everyone they don't want to hear about it anymore. Then don't go in those threads! But don't tell others what they should be posting on this board.
And yes, I voted. I encouraged others to vote. I claim the right to bitch.

I know people IRL who are like this. I don't understand it - it's exhausting to stay pissed off all the time! SaveI wonder if Germans in 1930's felt the same? My comment had nothing to do with politics... Save

Ain't gonna be lightening up regarding our republic democracy anytime soon. And no one here gets to tell us to move on about it either. The travesty of the P-E is the likes of what we have never seen before. The list of everything he's already done wrong is staggering. So yeah, we're not getting over this anytime soon.

I've gone nearly 17 years on this board without opening a What's For Dinner thread. If I can show such restraint, I'm sure others can avoid the politics threads they are so distraught over. This board has always had a large variety of topics and threads - pick and choose whatever works for you, but please don't tell me what I should and shouldn't be reading or posting about. This place has always been optional - it's not like the annoying coworker or family member you can't avoid seeing - so it always amuses me when people bitch and moan about this place.

Your "solution" doesn't correspond with the discussion topic, though I'm sure if he was your candidate you would like others to accept him. And who decides what this board is "meant to be?" We all do. Just don't read the posts you don't like, or stay away if you can't stop yourself from reading. It's very simple. Please remember that your timetable is not everyone's. As far as the OP, she enjoys stirring the pot with political posts, and she gets a rise out of us here every time. My dad used to say: Don't feed the monster if you don't want it to hang around your kitchen.
