I kill deep fryers. They have to be cleaned out after every use, but that means waiting hours to let it cool down and by then, I've forgotten about it. I hate, hate, hate the clean up of it. I tend to use them until they are too grimy to be cleaned without hours and hours of scrubbing. To me, they are a consumable. We typically get a ton of Kohl's cash around Thanksgiving and each year, I tend to pick a kitchen toy (last year was a HUGE skillet that does wonders my for fried potatoes, nice and crispy instead of mushy because there is more surface area for spreading food out on) because I don't make room in the budget otherwise for gadgets. I'm thinking of getting an Air Fryer. There is a NuWave one for about $100 that would end up being around $35 after taxes and that is just too good of a deal to pass up...it has great reviews. My biggest concern was 'how the heck do you cook hand floured chicken without oil' but apparently it is doable, so I'm excited to see how that works...I thought it would mostly be effective for frozen foods. One of the reviews says that the recipe book that comes with it is very basic and to make anything else requires a lot of trial and error and that just seems like it could end up incredibly wasteful. I'm looking for suggestions on a tried and true resource for recipes, especially nice basic ones so I can familiarize myself with it. I'm open to cookbook suggestions or even free online resources if you have them. Thank you!!

We have a weekly thread that includes both air fryers and electric pressure cookers. There are quite a few people who participate there who use both - myself included. You can ask any questions there and also for recipe suggestions.
I will admit to using my air fryer to mostly heat frozen foods, although I do use it to roast fresh asparagus and make the best ever grilled cheese sandwiches.
