I had posted a while back asking whether any peas have had botox shots for migraines, and I got several really helpful responses. Today I went for my second set. I will be getting them every 3 months. The frequency after my first shots 3 months ago went from 5 headaches per week to 4 in the past three months. I'm amazed and grateful.
I meant to ask the neurologist if there is a limit to how long I can do this, but forgot. He was very happy when I left his office. (I told him I even get to drink a glass of wine now and then!) He said he seldom sees patients in his office who are happy about things. That made me feel bad for him, and kinda glad he has the occasional patient he can help.

wow, that is a GREAT improvement!! I didn't see the original thread, but I'm glad to read that it's helping you-- migraines suck, and I can't even imagine getting them that often-- having one every few months (whenever there's a major air pressure change) is bad enough for me.

Glad you found something to work for you! Migraines can be incapacitating. ( understatement for some )

I am so glad the shots are helping you. I've been getting them for a few years now and there is no limit as far as I know. Also, if you are like me you will see continued improvement as you keep getting them.

I'm so happy for you. I think I was one on the original thread that posted about my fantastic results. In Jan 2017 I will have been having them for 4 years and my results have been pretty consistent (similar to yours). I have had a couple of times where I did seem to go backwards but they coincided with sinus infections etc so not surprising.
From my neurologists point of view, there is no time limit. He has been injecting people in Australia for over 10 years now and I have no plans of stopping.
I honestly feel it has been life changing for me. I can exercise consistently without getting head thumping after a few minutes, I don't have the constant fog and life is generally so much better.

That's fantastic! Fingers crossed that you will have continued results. I have primarily menstrual migraines. But last winter I went through a period of a few months of almost constant migraines and started on a preventative and that has helped that.

These first three months have been so different for me that I have been quietly afraid the effect might disappear. SaveSave

I am SO happy for you and other sufferers who've been helped !!! I've always had a lot of sympathy for migraine sufferers---I know they're excrutiating!!! And you used to have 5 per WEEK?!? I don't think I could handle that !!! I have 2 dear friends who get horrific migraines, I wonder if they know about botox? I'm definitely going to let them know!

My daughter has been getting them every 3 months for about 2 years. According to her neurologist, she can continue to get them for as long as she needs them. No time limit. They don't help her as well as they are helping you but Chiari is a whole different ballgame when it comes to migraines. Glad you are getting some amazing relief!

That's great news - for you and for the others who are getting the same results - I never knew it was an option.
