My daughter's older backpack from junior high isn't cutting it. She carries so much - binders, books, and a laptop. I'd like to get her a new one for Christmas. A fun color would be a bonus.
What kind does your daughter have?

My high school daughter has this one from amazon: Swiss Gear Backpack and she loves it. VERY sturdy, lots of pockets, a special laptop slot and it is very well cushioned on the back. Comes in several different colors.

My high school daughter has this one from amazon: Swiss Gear Backpack and she loves it. VERY sturdy, lots of pockets, a special laptop slot and it is very well cushioned on the back. Comes in several different colors. My HS junior has the same bag. His school has mandatory iPads. He loves the tablet pocket. It helps keep him organized and he worries less about damage. He has an old NorthFace that he got at the end of 4th grade. It's still in excellent shape and used for other things.

Late summer I bought our son a new LLBean Super Deluxe III (replacing the LLBean Super Deluxe backpack that he'd carried since 4th grade & still looks new) to commemorate starting high school. It was $68 (incl monogram & free shipping) & holds an amazing amount of school supplies. HTH & your high schooler finds a backpack that meets her needs; happy shopping!

My son always loved his Lands End backpacks. They never wore out...I only had to replace them when he outgrew them.

Both my girls use Jansport. We've tried many other brands but these take some serious abuse but still look great and hold up very well. At first I was hesitant to but them because of the price, but they are worth every penny for us.

Dd has an under armour bag. These kids don't use lockers so they carry their bags.all.day.long. If also fits her lunch. This is her second or third UA bag. Not that there is anything wrong with the others but new school year equals new bookbag. Ughh whatever

DD uses Vera Bradley bags. She has a backpack for even days and a messenger bag for odd days. She's on her 4th year of using them. They are wearing at the shoulder straps, so she won't take them off to college with her. But I am amazed that they have held up this long. Probably because she only uses a bag every other day, but still!
DS has a Lands End Bag. He used his for 6 years, then got a new one when he went off to college that was a little smaller. He no longer needed to carry his sports gear, a lunch, and all his books with him every day. We did donate the old one to Goodwill--it was still very usable.

I bought this backpack for my son last school year. It still looks great. And so so comfortable. He says it's the best one he has ever had. There is great padding in the back so binders and books don't poke at him. It distributes weight well and is sturdy. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OS2NUT4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1ETA: It has lots of color choices too, click on the different colors to see availability and prices. Not a cheap one, but I didn't have to replace it this school year and I doubt I will next year.

Thank you all for the recommendations and links! Off to check them all out. A few that were mentioned are ones I've looked at quickly online. It's nice to hear from someone who actually uses them.
Her current backpack is Lands End, from third grade! It is still in fabulous condition, it's just too small. Quinn hates buying new things and loves to say, "but this one is fine!" as she carries ten separate things because they don't fit inside! If I didn't get her another one, she'd carry this one to college.

Another LLBean backpack user. Lifetime guarantee. DD carried one form Jr Hi through college. We sent it back for a zipper replacement after college.

Jansport have been the only ones that have held up for us. My older DS is in his last year of college, and is still using the Jansport pack he got as a sophomore in high school.

In the high school years, dd moved from Vera Bradley to a Kipling backpack. She needed something very sturdy for commuting as she was commuting over an hour each way and needed to carry a laptop, notebooks and dancewear. She went with black so it wouldn't show the dirt and grime. It does come in other colors. I felt like it was just as sturdy as the Land's End backpack she had when she was younger.

Both of my daughters have Roxy brand packpacks. One is an 8th grader and the other is a sophomore in college. I bought them at a local shoe store. They cost about $50 and are great. It has a padded section for a laptop. They have a pocket inside that I think is specifically for a phone in addition to other roomy pockets. They are well made and can hold a lot. They had a few different patterns to choose from. One of my girls has a blue leopard print and the other has a blue starburst pattern. They're cute in addition to being functional and well made.

My daughter has an adidas backpack. It's on year three of high school and going strong. The kids never go to their lockers as there isn't enough time so she picked the biggest backpack she could find! It washes up nicely.
