I need to make a PDF file for a project I'm working on. I did a search and learned the technical process of converting a file to a PDF. But I want to make a great looking PDF file with a checklist complete with little boxes. My search led me to Atavist which was surprisingly simple. I loved the result given the short learning curve. It doesn't seem to have checkboxes though. Do I need to learn Adobe or something first?

I create PDFs often but I usually create the document in word and then save it as a PDF (I have Adobe Acrobat Reader) If you can't save it as a PDF, then you can download Cute PDF writer (it is free) and then print your Word document to Cute PDF writer, which will create a PDF as well.

I do what disneypal does -- I create in word, excel or powerpoint and print/save to a PDF. And that works with checkboxes. But you do have to have the software that allows you to save/print to a PDF (I have it through work)

Do you use MS Word? You can create check boxes and limited graphics in it. Then "Save As" a PDF instead of a word document.
ETA I was typing at the same time as above. I don't recall what version of word I'm using, but you can Save As, it's not dependent on having Adobe Acrobat installed. Just use the drop down menu and select PDF instead of .doc extension. I'm talking PC, that might make a difference?

Thanks everyone! I don't have Word (but I'll poke around and see what I do have). I've never had to use word processing software and my go to is usually just Notepad for anything I need to write. Maybe it's time to buy it.

Google Docs supplies check boxes. I didn't realize that.
ETA: Google Docs works great. Make the document then download as PDF. Easy "peasy" (sorry - couldn't resist).
