Well. That's a new one.
I received an email saying Pinterest had deleted a pin from one of my boards because of copyright infringement.
That made me even more curious to see it.
How frequently has this happened to you? It was a first for me!

I get that about once a week. The same pin each time. It's annoying!

Yeah, same here. Not once a week, but quite often. At first I was alarmed, but now it's all Eh. Some people just don't like the attention given to their product or idea.

Yes, a few times. Not often but I haven't been pinning lately.

how interesting!I've never had this happen. everytime I hear of something getting removed for copyright infringement, I immediately think the Disney copyright people must be out and about policing.

It's only happened once, I don't remember what pin it was. I occasionally run across a pin when I click on it, I'm not actually taken to what I should. So I guess they are cutting down on spam.

Never not once. Do you know what pin it was? Is there a way to find out?

Hmmm...those of us who have received that email must pin really juicy stuff! LOL!
In the emails I've gotten, there is a description of the pin. I'm trying to remember if there is an actual picture of it as well. Most of my more recent ones were something to do with essential oils.

Not so far on Pinterest - but it happened to me on Facebook when I tried to upload a video I shot at the Adele concert. It wasn't even a full length video of her singing, more like her talking and the beginning of a song.
I got a message saying that the video couldn't load because of copyright infringement.
So - I loaded into Vimeo and posted instead!

I have gotten a few of them. It is usually copyright infringement that gets cited.

I've gotten a few. Most all were either pins from Houzz or home design/architecture websites.

I've gotten those e-mails every once in a while. I do mostly re-pinning things that I see on Pinterest, and every once in a while someone else has pinned something from a website that has a policy against pinning their content. (you know, how some websites don't even let you pin some / all of their images?? somehow people can get around that, or pinned something before the website owner changes their policy.)
One website like that that comes to mind is Houzz (I think that's what the name is? anyway, it's a decorating website...) but I'm sure there have been others from bloggers or craft-type websites. It's not because you did something 'wrong' with any of your pins.

I'm like do you not want people sharing your products in different platforms???

I recall a thread regarding Pinterest and the correct way to pin things. People were adamant that we were to go to the website and pin directly from the site. I'm not one of those pinners. I pin from Pinterest. If I see something that catches my eye, I click the pin button. I don't like clicking on the pin, and then visiting the site it came from. Most of the time that doesn't even work. You have to really search out where the pin originally came from. So I skip that. That is probably why I get more of those kinds of emails. I don't take the time to vet the pin.

I usually don't either, if I only want the pin for the image as inspiration. If it's a pin for a recipe or something like that, I'll (maybe) check the website when I pin it, but usually, I figure I'll just do it later.

I've had it happen quite often with the Young Living essential oil posts. Not for copyright but for one of the other reasons. Seems odd that blogs have things on there but then don't want the other advertising on Pinterest. Whatever....
ETA: I don't understand why you'd have to pin directly from the website. Most of the pins, once you click on them, link you back to the original site.

I occasionally run across a pin when I click on it, I'm not actually taken to what I should. Sometimes people pin from a blog- but they didn't pin the actual blog post about the pin. They just pinned the main page. So when you try to go see the pinned item - you have to search and search for it. I hate it when people pin wrong! LOL

My daughter had that same thing happen on FB- she shot an adorable video of her baby and toddler dancing at a wedding- the background music, which sounded muffled and hard to hear from the crowd, was copyrighted. Her Instagram post was not removed!

I've seen that as well, but I thought it's because the blog owner changed her url so now all her old links don't work. That is a possibility too! I know some take me to the main blog page, but if I search for the item, I can usually find it.

It has happened to me once or twice - one was a coloring page that I had repined and one was a home decor page that I had repined.
