Hmm, how would this work for globe trotting trips?
from CNN newsletter:
Some notes on Petraeus, the former general who's on the secretary of state short list, from USA Today's Brad Heath: Because he's on probation as part of his plea deal after giving access to confidential information to his mistress and biographer, Petraeus will have to check with his probation officer before leaving western North Carolina -- and his office would be subject to random, warrantless searches by his probation officer.

The president has the power to commute his sentence and pardon him, which would seem likely he if gets the job.

Sorry, I see there is another thread on this. 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/53095/petraeus-sec-statescrapsotime: If the POTUS pardoned him, IMO, it would make him a joke to the nations where he visits on behalf of the USA. IMO, he would not have any credibility with other nations as Secretary of State.

Putting aside the travel problems, "random warrantless searches" of his office (and home, I assume) sound like prime security issues to me.

I think it's ridiculous. After all his screaming about HC and her corruption, he picks this guy? I'm not surprised, though, which is sad in itself.
