Somebody breaks an arm.
Dropped the the boys off at the day home this morning, ate a leisurely breakfast while planning my attack on my Christmas gift list. Stopped at "the Christmas store" and picked up some cool gifts for adults. Drove to toys r Us, grabbed my list, and headed for the door.
Ten em steps away from my car, my foot landed on a slick piece of ice under the new snow. My feet went up and I went down. Guess I tried to break my fall with my elbow. Anyway, after an ambulance ride, some X-rays, and a long afternoon in the hospital, I was told my left arm is broken, just below the shoulder joint.
Parents of the kids were gone, but my other ddil was home, so I called her. By the time my ds arrived at emerge to meet me there, childcare was handled and a plan was in place to pick up my car and then pick ME up, stop for a prescription for Percocet, swing by where I had been staying to get my stuff, and bundle me to their house.

Oh no! That sounds terribly painful. And while there is no ideal time for something like this to happen, Christmas certainly is NOT it! I hope you feel better soon. Fingers crossed that you have lots of Christmas elves to help you through.

Oh, no! It's a good thing 30 Days of Thankful is over cause it's hard to find something to be thankful for when you're on Percocet! Hopefully you won't be in too much pain!

I'm so sorry to hear you got hurt! I've broken my arm and hand a few times, so I feel for you. We'll keep you in our prayers. Update us when the Percocet wears off.

Oh poor you. That must be incredibly painful. I'm also out of action due to injury - I slipped when cleaning up after craft at the day care where I work and landed on my right hand. Thankfully mine isn't broken, but it is still painful, and is now turning some wonderful colors!
I hope you are feeling better soon, and that the boredom of not being able to do anything doesn't get to you too much.

Argh, what a time of year to "lose" an arm I hope you are right handed, and I'm glad you didn't hit your head as you went down! Take care.

Oh, I'm so sorry about your arm! You probably will be sore all over and very tired for a few days, so take it easy on yourself. What a tough time for this to happen. Are you right handed? I hope you heal quickly!

Oh dear, not the way to start December! I hope you will give yourself the rest and recovery time you need to heal. Christmas is about family first and foremost, not the gifts, the perfect house, the elaborate decor. Like *that* Disney goes: let it go. (ah, it's stuck in your head now, isn't it? ) Just focus on getting better and taking it easy until you've got your arm back. Hot chocolate, blanket, couch, and lots of careful one-armed snuggles with the little ones.

I'm so sorry! I was always scared walking on ice when I lived in a cold climate. I hope you're right handed. It can be so awkward and frustrating being forced to use your non-dominant hand for a long period of time.

Thanks, Ladies!
Fortunately the break is in my left shoulder, and I am right handed.
And I am being cared for royally. I have to argue if I want to do something for myself today. I am resting and started signing Christmas cards. May need some help stuffing envelopes. Funny what causes twinges of pain. My ddil the nurse, and my other ddil the physiotherapist, have told me pain is my friend: it tells me what not to do, so if something hurts, I quit doing it.

Oh no!!!!!!! That's terrible. I'm so sorry, what a terrible time for something like that to happen...not that there is a good time. I'm glad you're being well taken care of. I hope you have yourself a speedy recovery.
The only upside I can think of is if you hate wrapping gifts (like I do...husband is never thrilled to help with the task and never wraps anything he's gotten me until Christmas Eve) at least you have a legitimate excuse not to have to do that.

So sorry! Hope you are not in too much pain and have some help.
I had not heard from my bff in several days and she was not answering her phone so I called her daughter today. She broke both ankles on TG day.
