I'm wanting a 2x2 square punch so that I can use those little grid page protectors that come with almost every AE album. I know that I can just measure and cut but a punch is so much quicker. So I go to Ms today and find one that says 2". Great! Purchase, drive home (2 hours away) and happily open my punch to try it out. It's 2" alright...2" diameter. Sigh. So disappointed and now I'm not sure when I'll be back to a M's...hoping I can return it.

That's false advertising. Who measures a square by the diameter??? Does it say that any where on the package?

Yup, I've been searching for a true 2" punch for a long time for the same reason and did the same thing you did! So far, the only true 2" punch I've found is by Becky Higgins/project life. It cuts beautifully, but the bad news is that it's got rounded corners and is ENORMOUS! But if you don't mind those two things, I highly recommend it.

I'm confused...the "diameter" of a square (width) that is 2x2 would be 2"? So you mean diagonal measurement (like the do on TVs)? That would be SO misleading!
I'm someone like you who has always held off on buying square punches because you can cut them, but I curse myself when I'm cutting tiny squares over and over again!

Creative Memories has a punch set that's a 2 inch square and circle; the punches are interchangeable with a handle that's also part of the set. It's pretty neat; they also sell other punch cartridges that fit into the same lever.

I've seen some really cute layouts made with the 2 inch square punch-- you can fit so many of them onto a 12x12 layout!

Glad to know that I'm not alone! I did find the description for the 2" diameter, on the back of the package, in tiny printing Seriously, diameter is for circles not squares. But after doing some searching I found one, www.scrapbook.com/store/nm-lv-gcp-42.html?w=square+punch . And by reading the reviews/questions lots of people have had the same issues, but this one promises to be good. Fingers crossed!

I'm so glad to read that I'm not the only one that is puzzled by the manufacturer's measuring decision. I have an old Marvy Uchida 2"square punch. It in reality measures 2-1/8". Drives me crazy. But I still do *love* my punches.

Yes that Marvy punch is not a true 2 inch punch, try Amazon for a 2 inch passport punch. They are expensive but I got mine as a birthday gift and I love it so I would gladly pay for it.

What's with the "Each Cartridge delivers approximately 2,000 cuts"? Aren't punches good forever?

i wonder if it's to keep expensive 2" square passport photos from being cut with a cheap craft punch as opposed to the more expensive "passport photo" punch.

Seriously? UGH! I went by some of the reviews for this. All I want is an easy way to punch out photos and paper for those 6x8 page protectors that have the 2x2 grid. I looked at the PL one but I don't want rounded corners.

Ooooh, just looked at those on Amazon. They sure are pricey, but it would be so nice to have! Put it on my wish list for a splurge someday or if they go on sale. Thx!
