My 15 year old DD bought one of those cute Crosley mini record players a couple of months ago. Apparently all her friends have them too. We've been having a blast at the used record store buying 80s pop albums for about a dollar! It's quite nostalgic to walk past her bedroom and hear Wham, Olivia Newton John, Cyndi Lauper, etc. She's also buying new stuff like Lana Del Ray. We live in Tokyo and HMV just opened a record shop near our house. They're also selling the Crosley record players (for more than double the price in Target and Amazon!) so I'm assuming the world is going a bit retro with regards to music right now So, is this a 'thing' where you live too? www.amazon.com/Crosley-CR8005A-TU-Portable-Turntable-Turquoise/dp/B00990Z4W6/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1407834533&sr=1-1&keywords=crosley+record+player

Just looked and they are available on Amazon UK and seem to be selling well and fast so it would seem the world is going a bit retro with regards to music at the moment. Don't have teens so not sure if this is a 'thing' with them where I live - but I'm intrigued by this now so will be asking friends!!

My DH picked up a turntable in a charity shop a few months ago and DD19 and DS16 love going through all our old records. My friend and I were laughing at her daughter who came home and asked if she could get a 'vinyl player'. We didn't know what she meant, so she explained that 'vinyl' was the newest way to listen to music!

My young adult son does. He bought one for his dad for Christmas. DH has vinyl records from back in the day. We enjoy listening to classic vinyl!

That's all my 15 year old wanted for Christmas last year so yes, he has one. But, he doesn't call it a record player but a turntable. He was given a small collection of records and he's since bought a few more. He loves it.

No, but my DH has a turntable.
It is fairly new and looks nothing like those from the past.

My DD19 got one a few years ago. We have tons of vinyl in storage bins in the basement. Every now and then she will play something. It also has the option to plug into the computer to burn your record into mp3 files.

My son got one for Christmas that he wanted (different style than above pic). He loves it. He also went through a bunch of my old albums along with my fathers which I have. Not only is he into vinyl but the car he bought has a cassette player and about every two weeks he goes to Savers to see what cassettes they have. I cringe at that but he loves them.

No, but my son wants one. Actually, I guess I should say he wants a turntable, speakers-the whole shebang. I have had a hard time finding one around here, he doesn't want a new one but an old one and that is tougher to find.
Apparently he has a friend who has an old technics turntable and he spent an afternoon telling me how much better the music sounded on vinyl. LOL

No - but a friend of his has his parents old "stereo". It seems that vinyl is making a come back (well in certain circles of teens). They have been scouring old record stores for the treasures. His friends parents still have all their albums! The guys are having a blast with them. I have been explaining how important album covers were just as important as the music within. DH & I got rid of our albums about twenty years ago.

No, and they have no interest but I have a Crosley turntable and all of my records - 45's and albums from the 70's and 80's. Sometimes i put them on because my favorite songs are among them. I had my turntable, receiver, speakers, etc and gave them away for this Crosley that also lets you make CDs from your records and Cassettes.
Target sells the Crosley turntables in store and online and at Black Friday so does KMart, Kohls and Bed,Bath Beyond.

I wish but sadly no. My daughter thinks any music from over 2 years ago is old and ancient and from my time.

Forgot to mention that I have my parents turntable and that with a lot of the older albums they were not recorded in stereo so when I did listen to them on my player (which is no longer hooked up) it would only come out in one speaker and I'd wonder why. Something you don't think about.

DH bought DD (almost 14) a Crosley Spinnerette turntable a while back. There was a great record store in Laguna Beach that they visited before we moved, and she got a WIDE variety of albums, including Cindy Lauper, Foreigner, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and a few others. She is on the hunt for more, too. When we moved, DH (who's a HUGE audiophile) bought himself a new turntable too. I have no idea what kind it is and don't want to know what it cost, but based on the other toys in his audio playhouse, I'm sure it wasn't cheap. He has all of his mother's classical/opera albums, and is building his own collection of high-quality (of course ) pressed albums too. Can I count him as a teenager too, albeit one with a bigger budget? LOL!

Yes! They both wanted one for Christmas last year, but I bought one as a combined gift for them and it's in the living room. DS has commandeered all of my mom's old vinyl (some was ours that we left there as kids) but he loves big band and swing so there's some of that in there. Along with some Mormon Tabernacle Choir or something like that,LOL. Anyway, now they love going to the little thrift shop up the street to dig through the old vinyl. We do have some new stuff - I bought them each a couple albums of stuff they like (Mumford and Sons, Panic at the Disco). They really have a blast with it!

No, but she wants one. She's saving her money to buy one. I told her I have some old John Denver and KISS albums she can listen too. She cringed. Haha!

No. But we still have DH's old turntable and DH recently got a new one that records to MP3s, so they could play records if they wanted to. My kids are of an age right now where everything that mom and dad listen to (or ever listened to for that matter) is not worthy of their time, so I see little chance that they would want to listen to our records.
