Of all the scrapping stuff, ordering photos is my least favorite and probably why I've put it off for over a year (and haven't scrapped much in the past year). Today I'm going in...
I think the hardest part is deciding what sizes to order, and how many photos will reasonably fit on a one page layout BEFORE I start the page. Maybe a photo printer in my future would help with that...
Anyway, wish me luck.
Anyone else way behind in photo ordering?

I'm still behind...I caught up and then swore I wouldn't get behind again and then I blinked and 3 or 4 months went by. It takes a lot of time to get caught up, but you'll get into a rhythm.
If I'm not sure how I want to print something, I'd rather print extras than have to wait for another order in the future. I print horizontal photos mostly on 4x6's, but if there are a sequence of photos from an event, I'll print them 4 to a 4x6 for PL (I'll print them full size and pick my favorites if I think I'll also do a 12x12 layout of it). Most vertical photos are printed 3x4...very very seldom to I print them on a collaged 4x6 because I use mostly Design A page protectors (and the ones I use as inserts use the same orientation of photos, even if the layout is different). I'll also occasionally print the 4x4 collages that google makes on it's own just for fun. If I have a vertical photo that I like, I'll print those as full 4x6's for 12x12 layouts, but if there are several of on occasion or in a sequence of shots and I can't pick faves, I might just order duplicates of the 3x4 sized ones (printed 2 to a 4x6) because they fit better on a single page. Not sure if that helps, but basically, you just have to think about how you think you intend to use them. If that means you end up with a few duplicates along the way, it saves time so isn't a big deal and I also accept that there is bound to be a time or two where I'm just going to have to deal with reprinting a photo, because it's not a perfect science.
Good luck!!

Right now I downloaded some pics from a party my son went to on Sat and haven't had them printed. I send them over to Walmart on the one hour and then pick them up when I get around to it. But most of my orders are between 1 and 10 photos.

Still haven't ordered...sidetracked by finding the missing receipt for the dishwasher because it's broken. Yes, that is what I would rather do than send photos to be printed. And no I still haven't found it.

I've just gone through this process in the last few days with my Disney pictures. I really do not enjoy that part of the process at all for the same reasons. Planning the layout, including the photo sizes, editing, uploading, and ordering. I always worry that I'm leaving pictures out because I often do. I had a lot of pictures from the trip so I had to figure out ways to use a lot of pictures per layout. It feels like it's a lot of work and planning to get to the fun part. I said in another thread that it's a good thing they won't arrive until next week because I got so tired of looking at them during the whole process. Once they arrive I'll be excited about scrapping them, though.
It's not always this much work. Sometimes I can order all 4x6 with a few Photosheet collages and it's not too much trouble but this is a whole themed album and there has been a lot of planning.
So, yes, I totally understand why you put off ordering pictures.

I use to print my photos fairly often, but then I used to scrapbook pretty often and was never too far behind. Fast forward and I now print less frequently and in much bigger batches. I did ask for a new photo printer from Xmas that I'm pretty excited about since I'll be able to print wirelessly from my iPhone which is what I use for 75% of my photo taking.

OK they are ordered, now I have to brave Costco (I had a coupon) in 2 hours to go get them. I'm sure I forgot something and will have to make a 2nd order... I also only ordered 4 by 6 and above sizes and skipped trying to cram two photos on one 4 by 6 because I wanted to be done!
Now maybe I will be inspired to actually scrap, if I survive the Costco parking lot...

congratulations~! I think we all dislike editing. I have some beautiful pics (about 500) waiting for me from our thanksgiving trip. If I can make myself just start, I will get it done, but I have trouble getting myself to start the process.

I procrastinate, too. It was much easier when I had Ritz Camera near my office. I'd go in and use their touch screen computer to edit and order. I could pick up at lunch the next day.
It seems much slower doing it online through Shutterfly or other services.

So I waited 2 hours, drove to Costco (5 mile trip) and the lady at the photo counter couldn't find my order and said I must not have clicked submit. Pretty sure I did because it asked if I wanted to continue shopping but couldn't check that email address on my phone, so drove home photoless. I did hit submit but somehow clicked tomorrow's date instead of today for pick up (not sure how, I didn't change the time)... so apparently I will be going back to Costco tomorrow because I can't figure out how to cancel or change my order online and it's not worth trying to figure it out.
Just the kind of week I'm having I guess...

It's a paper coupon that came with a picture frame, not an online code. Sorry.

I've also been struggling with the photo ordering. I used to have a photo developer close by that I really liked, but they've switched to an online only storefront and I find that ordering online takes me SO much longer. Part of this is poor photo organization on my Mac...the photos are all organized in Photos, but they don't exist there, so I have to dig through my files to find the actual photos to drag and drop. (I'm sure there's a better way, I just don't know it!)
I have about 1,500 photos from a European vacation that I plan on scrapping in the new year. The goal is to send them off for printing while I am off around the holidays. The second goal is to get MUCH better at photo printing (and taking) in the new year.

After one year that I didn't order any photos at all, and then had to go back, and it was an enormous project....
I order every month, usually on the first of the month, ordering the previous month's photos.
I upload to Snapfish.
And the entirety of my "photo editing" is done on Photosheet, fitting either 2 pics on a 4x6" or 4 pics on a 4x6"
I just "make it work" when I scrapbook, and don't preplan layouts.
