I attended CHA is the "good old days". I was then a teacher for a scrap store so we got tickets for a lot of the education stuff -- huge goodie bags, great education with new and exciting products. During the show, we reviewed the new products and received lots of samples. We spoke to the originator of Me and my Big Ideas when she was presenting their first stickers! Scrapbooking was a very different industry then

It is a great experience, and like loydene it was in the good old days. We taught classes and worked the booth for Spellbinders as part of their design team.

Trying to decide if it is worth paying my own way as a mini-vacation for me . . . my plan to stay with a friend is not going to work, I might be renting a hotel in Phoenix, plus renting a car. From the CHA website it is not readily apparent how much it costs to go to the event. The company I on on the DT for might pay for that as I would be running some of the demos at the booth. Still trying to figure it all out while the airfares are still low. No longer the good ole days so hum what to do!

If I was going to be working -- running demos at a booth -- I wouldn't be paying my own way or lodging costs. Design team or not.

I don't know if this will help any. I heard CHA is going to be very specific. One year it will be about beads, next quilting. I don't know how big the show will be now since it's early heydays. Smaller is more intimate. It might not be as chaotic. Phoenix in Winter would probably be lovely. I don't know what the theme of the show will be this year so it might not be a lot of paper crafting. I also think that is a plus too. I know a lot of my friends in other crafting industries who went to CHA were always so surprised how big paper crafting was and other crafts were kind of shoved to the side. That did really upset a lot of people. I think it will be a lot more diverse. The last couple of years they have been a bit more diverse.
I would go and just have fun. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would think your DT should pay for some of the trip since you are representing their company. I know CHA is super expensive to have a booth. Your DT might be able to help pay for meals and some transportation costs. Hope that helps.

According to their "Creativation" event site, they claim that they're expanding in 2017 in terms of categories, but this event will be fabric-focused. "- Connect with new buyers, suppliers, designers, makers, bloggers, media and entrepreneurs from around the world and welcome our fabric, sewing, needle arts and edible arts participants as we expand in 2017." I attended CHA is the "good old days". ahhhh, the good old days. i remember those!! my first CHA was in Las Vegas. i attended as a professional crafter. it was during the height of scrapbooking. the massive convention floor was packed tight with all the major scrapbook companies and the other convention hall had all the other crafting companies. scrapbooking was definitely the belle of the ball. there were demos everywhere and each day I would go home with tons of product samples. the hall would be loud and fun. they would have giveaways all day long.
after Vegas, I attended them in Anaheim. less and less companies were attending and the excitement wasn't there anymore. it's been a few years since I've gone and I haven't missed it. the good old days were definitely the best times.

It's been a long time since I've gone. If you are working in one of the vendor booths, they should be obtaining your badge for you to get in, lodging and transportation, at least that's how it was always done when I demoed. It's always fun seeing all the new stuff first before it comes out!

Imagine does carry inks and markers that are readily usable on fabrics. I may pitch a quick take-away demo that uses a layering stencil and our All Purpose Inks. I still think it sounds like fun!

I've been twice, in 2014 and 2016. I've blogged about it quite a bit. If you'd like, you can go to ScrapbookObsession.com and type CHA in the search box. It'll bring up all the posts I've written about it. Hope that's helpful! I'm very sad they moved to Phoenix as I'm in California and was paying my own way, so I can't afford to go anymore, boo hoo.
