Yes. Not necessarily with margaritas but if I drink then I often don't have a very good night's sleep.
Alcohol does not always knock me out for the night.

I've reached the age where alcohol no longer puts me to sleep but keeps me lying awake in bed.

Maybe it's a blood-sugar thing.

Alcohol might help you sleep for a couple of hours but after that, it can completely disrupt it. It's worse than drinking caffeine for a lot of people. And I think it gets worse as you age. Another wonderful side effect of getting older.

Another wonderful side effect of getting older. That's what I was going to say. Drinking may help you get to sleep, but in the end it will disrupt your sleep. grrrrr I didn't notice this effect until I was around 40, and probably between 25 and 40 I never drank enough to have it make a difference. (That's when my kids were young.)

Eh, that just means you need to move your margarita to 9 or 10 pm. Then you won't need an alarm clock

My experiences with 6pm margaritas is that they usually precede tequila shots, bad decision making and questionable behavior long before a problem sleeping at 3:30 am. Hence the reason I don't drink margaritas at 6 pm anymore. Or at least very often.

It is definitely an age thing. Drinking alcohol disrupts my sleep too. That started happening when I was approaching fifty years of age. I guess it is a good thing because it discourages me from consuming alcohol frequently.

I have the same issue with wine - it's the sugar. I'm okay if I have 1-2 glasses...if I have any more than that I'm up around 3am and I can't go back to sleep.

Clearly it needs to be followed up at 6:30, 7 and 730 pm for a full night's sleep.

I guess it is a good thing because it discourages me from consuming alcohol frequently. Started happening for me around 48. And even worse, alcohol also adds to my hot flashes. I remember one horrible night when had near constant hot flashes and felt sicker than a dog all night, and I hadn't even had much to drink. Talk about disrupting your sleep pattern!

I have the exact same thing. I don't drink tequila, but I like Miller Lite. Anymore than 3 beers and I'm up at 3:00 for about two hours. Sucks! This started happening about a year ago, at age 47. Getting old really really really blows!

This is why you have to space out your drinking....6pm margarita, 8pm margarita with a little beer in it. 10pm shot of tequila cause who really cares about that lime crap by then anyway. m

Unfortunately it's an age thing. I can't have any more than 1 or 2 of ANYTHING without it disrupting my sleep. Welcome to your 40's.
It blows.

I no longer drink alcohol due to being on pain meds. I miss the days of enjoying a glass of wine and not passing out immediately afterward. LOL!
