My SIL is expecting her first baby and we are so excited for her and BIL. SIL has requested an easy-going shower and would like our friends and family- men and women- to be invited. I think it will be very fun- my plan wasn't to do games but give something to all attendees and just have a casual atmosphere so we can shower the couple with love. My question is how to word the invitation so that everyone knows they are invited- not just women?

I would address the invites to both on the envelope.
Maybe add their names in handwriting on the invite itself, or a note that say's "hope to see you both".

Have all invitees on the envelope and maybe personalise each invite with the names of those invited? And avoid using invites that practically puke estrogen from being so bloody girly (I've never understood how the invite for a baby boy shower I received could be so girly since it was for a male child). Something more modern and neutral should help that.
And this sounds like the type of shower I'd actually want to attend. Good luck!

I've personalized invitations for a "co-ed" shower. How about something like:
Please join us to celebrate with a co-ed shower for Mary and Johnny

We did that for DS and his wife for their wedding and we called it a "jack and jill" shower. It was fun, but I don't know if it could be called that for a baby shower. I know that if it's casual, most men like to come!
When we had their baby shower, we did give a gift to DS (he was there for the first 20 minutes). It was a tool box (Daddy Diaper Bag) filled with diapers, wipes, Butt Paste, binkies..... I think we had a lot of fun filling it!

We've always called these Jack and Jills.
"Please join us as we celebrate Carla and Joe's impending bundle of joy at a Jack and Jill shower. Everyone is welcome to join us as we shower them with love!"
I had a Jack and Jill. It didn't seem to cause much confusion. Couples came and brought gifts, we opened them and ate snacks and cake. DH got lots of gentle ribbing about learning to change a diaper, etc. It was lovely.
