Got this email today from my old CM consultant. Excited to see that maybe we'll be getting the bookcloth albums back with page protectors, etc.!
"I’m writing to you to share that Ahni & Zoe has had success finding a new buyer to help it realize its full potential. It will bring changes in the product line and business model, which we’ll learn more about in the next weeks and months.
For now, the Ahni & Zoe products that you know and love will be available until August 21. The expectation is for the new company (expected in October)will include some of the best of CM (i.e. bookcloth coversets, pages, protectors, paper, etc.) and the quick and easy of A&Z like Fast2Fab albums.
In the meantime, you’ll want to see what you have on hand and decide what you need to purchase to get you through October. Message me if you have any questions..."

They pulled out of New Zealand completely and a lot of demos went with CTMH. I used a few CM products when I first started scrapping but have moved on to PL and Simple Stories now and wouldn't go back.

I did love their albums and side loading sleeves. I still use their circle cutting system and the multipurpose tool is my most used tool.
I have not found a new album replacement (a&z version was AWFUL!) but the new release from Heritage Makers Your Memories for Life line is way better. If this new iteration mimics the original in size and quality at a reasonable price, I might bite!

Uh, according to this industry person they are closing down! click hereI remember seeing this article, so I was shocked to read the OP. Personally, I love their albums, but it is the only product of theirs that I use. Even so, I would be ecstatic if the albums were to be sold again. I do use a 3-ring binders for my PL (AC and WRMK), but IMO, the CM albums are just so much better. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm not exactly holding my breathe. Lol

I am sure that they would still have a die hard fan base out there but I think that they really need to change things than going back to where they were. CM refused to move along with the times, I still believe it was this refusal to change that ended them.

Uh, according to this industry person they are closing down! click hereThanks for the article leeny. Apparently the AZ assets have been bought by another company and it's that new company which has the idea of bringing back some of the old album products. Guess there might be sufficient interest in those but I think they'd also need to have other products on offer and change things up a bit.

I'd love it if they brought back their tools. I have the circle cutter, the corner rounder, and a couple of others and they're great. I never tried their albums but I've heard nothing but good things about them.
I agree with the poster who said CM's downfall was that they never moved with the times. That and the attitude of some of their consultants who told people their albums would basically disintegrate if they used any other products but CM's.

I believe it's this Hayhoe guy who is resurrecting CM in some form.... Heritage Makers started selling a modified version of CM favorites (I believe they had to make slight modifications due to copyright issues). My former CM consultant went over to Heritage Makers. Here is the link. They have more products and tools in the pipeline. My consultant told me that side loading a sleeves is one of them but it is not available yet. www.heritagemakers.com/shop/?e=browseProducts&cid=11

I've told this story so many times...Was a CM consultant briefly. Went to a local gathering where Rhonda (the company founder) spoke. Rhonda spoke about how scrapbooking as a hobby was quickly dying out (this was 1998) and only CM would survive because it was clearly the only way we should be keeping memories. She showed lovely pages made with counterfeit products and made fun of them. Then reinforced that the correct way to make layouts was using CM products only.
That attitude was shared by most of the CM consultants in our area. I didn't last long - too much of a rebel, I suppose.
That being said, I still use my corner rounder and circle cutter set!

I think the tools (esp. the circle cutter) were the only good thing about CM. It did seem like they would make fun of other scrapbookers. I remember going to a CM party and being embarrassed to share anything since it wasn't the way I scrapbooked.

I think the tools were the best thing about CM. Still using my circle/oval cutters, corner rounder, scissors and punches! But I never did agree with the philosophy that you should only use their products and albums for your memory keeping.

Yes - I think if the new company sells the things that people want - tools, albums, protectors or side loading pages, they can be a success- ESPECIALLY if they forego the consultant model and just sell online to people that want it. No commissions, no parties, etc.

I guess I'll find out more on Saturday. I am going to a crop held by a CM/AZ rep. I think she told me she is switching over to Heritage Makers. I looked at their web site and there is a video by Rhonda Anderson who started CM talking about their products.

A friend of mine has a neighbor who used to be a CMC. She came today to my friend's house while I was there. She still has boxes and boxes of products. She had other challenges in her life and just didn't have time to see about selling it, but I bought a couple of tool items today at a 20% discount from the original price. I am sure she had albums among her inventory.
Perhaps there are other former CMCs like her who have inventory they would love to sell and recover some of the money they invested. It was a win-win today for both of us.

I wish they would bring back their tools. I have no interest in any of their other products, but once had a chance to try out one of their tools and was very impressed.

I love the multipurpose tool. Mine was damaged and I couldn't get another unless I bought a kit. Fortunately , I gave been lucky enough to buy TWO at a thrift store.... Still in box and tissue. I spent a grand total of 90 cents!!

The only thing I want is that trimmer that cuts in a wavy line. I have wanted to use it from time to time, but it was never available when I was willing to buy something from a consultant.
I know a CMC who filled her house with CM products like a store. She is now selling at 30% off and I have no idea how successful she is at liquidating at that price. If I was her I'd just keep the stuff and use it myself, donate some to charity crops and give some as gifts to scrappy friends.

I was wondering about them continuing too. Today I got this update:
I really liked their tools. Hopefully they will bring them back.
