I am bursting while trying to keep this secret. We are giving our DD16 a hunt seat saddle this year for Christmas. She has ridden and competed with a local Interscholastic Equestrian Association school team for the past three years and would love to have her own gear. A bit of backstory...we have had a rough year with DS17 and have chosen to send him to a therapeutic boarding school in another state. It is very, very expensive and not a decision we took lightly, but it had become truly a matter of life and death. He is making amazing progress, but the cost has tapped us out and DD knows that and is expecting very little for Christmas this year. What she doesn't know is that earlier this year, I was unbelievably lucky enough to find a barely used version of her favorite saddle at the barn. The saddle retails new for about $3K. Yeah, gulp. I paid less than one sixth of that earlier this spring and have had it stashed away since then. DD is such a good kid and has dealt with all of this difficulty with her big brother for several years. I am so excited to give her a bright spot this Christmas! Shhh... That is great! You will have to post after Christmas and let us know her reaction. Sorry to hear about your DS. Thank you, lemondrop.

Kitchen Aid mixer to my dd and her boyfriend. She came over to borrow my non KA mixer today for cookies. She didn't want bf to ask for it, so she's going to be surprised.

I got the two youngest kids in my family a little red Schylling piano, which I've wanted to buy for years. I think they are going to love it.

I found the perfect Seahawks sweater for my sister. She asked for Seahawks attire this year and I know she is going to love it!
I also got my youngest son, age 7, the Playmobil Food Truck set. My family and I have been trying different food trucks this year and he loves them so I think he will get a kick out of the Playmobil version.
My oldest son is getting Orlando City soccer tickets from my parents. He is going to flip out! He's been asking for Orlando City tickets for over a year.

Im kinda disappointed this year - neither of the boys had anything really good on their wishlist. Just regular, boring stuff....

I think I already gave the gifts I'm most excited about. My husband's family exchanged gifts at Thanksgiving. I gave my SILs each an Irish wool poncho and they loved them, and they looked really great in them, too. I got my FIL a thermos for his coffee in a retro buffalo check, which he really, really liked, and some coffee from a local roaster. And I gave my 12-year-old niece a framed photo with three 5x7 cutouts. One had a picture of her playing field hockey, one had a silhouette of a girl playing field hockey, and one had a saying: "She thought she could and so she did." My niece LOVED it. She's super sentimental and totally devoted to field hockey.
So we'll spend Christmas with my family...I like what I've gotten, but I'm not feeling super excited about it. I got my mom an Irish wool shawl that I really hope she will like. (Yes, it's an Irish wool kind of year, apparently.) The other gifts will be fine, but I'm not thrilled or anything.

Awe that sounds like such a wonderful gift! I bet he will be thrilled!
Wish I could say I have something exciting to give by sadly it was a dial it in kinda year. Gift cards are pretty much all I bought and a few stocking stuffers that are less then thrilling. I just had no christmas spirit or enthusiasm this year which saddens me because I normally am a lover of all things christmas.
I could finish a mini album I started of a hunting trip my hubby went on but frankly I don't want to put the time in to it because he is on my shit list lol.

I bought Echo Dots for everyone on BF.
I have a small speaker in the kitchen that I use with my iphone when I'm cooking and another in the living room for when I'm sitting in there. I noticed recently that when i have music playing, DH will come down and sit with Mom and me. When I'm cooking in the kitchen, he'll synchronize his phone to a speaker and act as DJ. My mom loves it! He'll find Elvis for her or someone singing something from her eras and she just really enjoys it.
I bought the Dots since all of them can access my Prime music account at once, where only 1 non Amazon device can access it at a time. I've been picking out speakers to go with each Dot based on who will be using it. DH will most likely keep his in his room as an alarm clock and weather checker, so he won't want a speaker. I bought a cute speaker for DD that has touch controls; she'll synchronize it to the Dot, so Alexa will control it most of the time, but she can unplug it and take it with her when she's going out, too. I may buy her another shower speaker, too because she has enjoyed mine so much.
I'm going to get Mom a Bluetooth speaker and maybe headphones, too. She loves to listen to audio books downstairs and in bed. The Dot will have access to my Audible collection and I know Mom is going to love that. She doesn't have internet at home, but she can download the books on her phone and play them overthe speaker at her house. She is staying with me for longer periods of time, so I'm sure she'll use it a lot.
I also have a Lego set for DH - the Beatles Yellow Submarine. He's forgotten he asked for it! I bought it the day he told me about it.

Such a FUN thread!!! Isn't it SO fun when you know you're going to surprize someone SO much!??! mom2jnk ---awww, your dd is going to be SO thrilled!!! lemondrop --- I'm intrigued by the money book where it's secured with rubber cement...how FUN! And so much better than just giving the cash in a card---I need to google that. What I've done to make cash more fun is to find a cute little container or miniature purse to put it in, but the peel-off thing you did sounds very cool. Mine are NOT **OMG!!! YOU GOT ME THAT !??! ** thrilling like some of yours, but......I adore ALL of our nieces and nephews, but the oldest nephew has that special place in this Auntie's heart, since he was the first baby in the family Plus, he is the MOST sentimental and appreciative, so I'm VERY excited to have found him the PERFECT gift. There's a video of him wayy back when he was around 7, and our family has watched it about a MILLION times, and we quote it, too. He was telling me allll about his train set, and he was SO articulate and cute with the MANY details he was telling me. Fast forward to now, he's 32, and he recently started taking BEAUTIFUL, artsy photos of trains; so he obviously still loves them. I found the CUTEST miniature train set----the track is approximately 10 inches in diameter. It runs on batteries, (I HOPE it actually works! LOL! ). I know he'll love it. 2. -----My second one that I'm excited about is one of my closest friends who is as obsesssed/ in LOVE with bulldogs as DH and I are! I found a very unique, hand-sewn ador-a-bull bulldog pillow on ebaY. Luckily, I ordered it wayy back in November, because it came from Holland. I also got one for DH. This friend is the type of person who goes crrrazzzzy happy over ANY gift, no matter what it is--it's the thoughtfulness that touches her (I'm the same way, actually!) 3. ----I MIGHT make a small, simple scrapbook for the same friend....I LOVE making scrapbooks for gifts, and haven't made one in years! It';ll mainly be all the fun BULLDOG events we've been to----rescue, adoption parties, Halloween bulldog parties, Christmas Rescue Bulldog parties, etc . The motivation hasn't QUITE hit me yet, but I had the photos printed weeks ago! 4. May I add the BEST gift DH and I just received today? My dear sister sent us the cutest Bulldog Christmas card and told us she donated to our Rescue Group that we've fostered / adopted / volunteer with--- THAT means the world to us! As with ALL shelters and rescue groups, every cent donated is so appreciated and NEEDED!!!

Just everything. This is my first Christmas post-divorce, and while I don't have my kids on Christmas Day, I want to show them that we can have a happy holiday when we do have our celebration. Ex-H was always a grump about Christmas; this will be a happy one! Plus, I managed to get everything they asked me for (they're teens and were very reasonable with their asking)!

I finally received the original artwork I bought. So THAT. I can't see it because it's bubble wrapped but I printed out a sample for my friend to see.
OH< and her housewarming gift. I realized (after I ordered the stupid placemats and napkins) that they would NOT ARRIVE until after January. So. I bought her something else entirely. I'm excited to give her this gift because she's had a rough time of it for like 4 years and she's finally back in her home town and A FANTASTIC JOB. She and I spoke on the phone the other day and she hasn't "put her kitchen together." SO, I ended up buying her 4 flax linen towels in sage and beige from some fancy Italian mill; 4 Le Creuset coffee mugs in palm green, and a hook handle tea diffuser and dish set.
I'm super thrilled that she's back in her home town and in a big way and I want to celebrate it in a big way.

Most excited about giving D/H Swarovski binoculars. He alway drools over them and says some day, well some day is December 26, 2016.
Was also excited about giving him an Instant Pot but that turned out to be a no go - previous thread on that event. But he is getting an Echo and think he will have a blast with that little device. He Is getting a bunch of cool things and really excited about them all but mostly happy about just hanging out together and playing with our new toys over the break.

What great gifts everyone has planned. DH and I don't really buy for each other except stocking stuffers but this year he brought up buying an Instant Pot and I jumped at the idea! We always give our daughters (32, 31 and 28) cash so they can get what they need/want, but I also do a stocking for them with something special in each one. This year it is a necklace that is perfect for each one of them. I think our Grandsons will be excited too, oldest (11) has been saving over 2 years for a computer, we got him a table, keyboard, mouse and light. His Mom & Dad got him a monitor, now he just has to order his Desktop! Youngest (3) is getting a talking Mickey Mouse and a great truck with a wrecking ball that spins and can knock things over - lol. His birthday is today and we got him Pider (spider) man stuff - he will be thrilled!

I drew my new sister in law. She, her husband and their three kids were in our wedding. She's expressed interest in the wedding photos and buying her own copies. So I made her a photo book with the pictures, focusing on her family and not me and the groom. It should arrive today! I'm so excited to give to her. She's a graphic designer and will appreciate the time and effort I put into the book. (And cost!).
And my middle daughter already got her big gift--an advanced level oboe. So she isn't expecting anything. I got her new lounge pants and socks and a hoodie and some bath and body works stuff so she would have something to open. She appreciates everything so I can't wait to see her smile.

I'm giving dh a cubs book from the Chicago Tribune it has newspaper pages from different eras and main events in cubs history.
I'm super excited about my 12 year old ds's gift to me. He "works" at am antique shops in town once a week and found something there to buy me with his own money. He did everything on his own, including wrap the gift. It doesn't matter what it is, I already love it.

Our boys asked Santa for pogo sticks. We one upped the guy in red and bought them a trampoline instead!!!! They are going to be SOOOO excited!! I plan on Santa writing a very detailed note as to why he brought something else and why Mom and Dad were included They are 4 and 6 so I don't see them looking into it too much.

I just had to factor it into my cost and swallow it! They are really beautiful, well-made items. Thanks to @myboysandme for the recommendation!

This is for DH b-day, not Christmas. He loved the Man Crate Oktoberfest gift I got him last year, so this year I ordered the Man Crate gift card that comes encased in cement. I think it comes with a little hammer to break it up. The gift card can be used at a variety of places. I paid a little extra to have it completely encased in duct tape.
So annoying, to me, but I bet he'll like it.

My DS (15) asked for Timberland boots and a Herchel backpack. They were both very expensive gifts. The backpack alone here is 125.00. I told him that it was very unlikely that he would get them as he also asked for some other expensive things. Told him that maybe 1 was in the budget. He was okay but disappointed. Well, my FIL decided to give us some money from some investments that he had to cash in. He said to just do whatever we wanted with it so I used some of it for Christmas! DS is getting BOTH the backpack and the boots, plus a bit of the rest of his list. He is going to FLIP OUT!!! I can't wait to see his face. He is such a great kid and helps around the house and watches his sister when I ask, so he really deserves it. DD who is 7 is going to freak that Santa is bringing her a Snacking Sara (baby Alive) doll. She has been asking for one since January. She also is getting an Ipod Touch of her very own, thanks to FIL. She will be a happy little girl.

I found these appetizer plates for my best friend at the Goodwill. They were 1/2 off the sticker price. They are LIMOGES! I got her other regular priced stuff but I hope she loves these. We love to go thrifting together. Several years ago when I was in Antwerp, I went into a tiny antique store and found a miniature tea set, the whole set fit into a soap box, for my df. It was Limoges as well. She loved this set! Good find.

A shadow box for my DH. His dog passed in September and I have her clay paw print, collar, tags and a lovely photo in the box. I will be standing by with a box of tissues when he opens it. Rather a morbid gift but it's something I hope he will love as he misses her so much.

It isn't anything extravagant, but my oldest DD will flip out!
She collects the Pop Vinyl figures, but only specific ones, related to her favourite things. Any time I'm out or travelling and I see a store with them, I'll text her to see what she has on her list. The one we've never been able to find is Raven, from the Teen Titans cartoon. I checked the Pop Vinyl site, and it is retired. So I hit eBay. Bingo!
I'm excited for all the other things we've gotten them, but this one little gift has me so excited!

I didn't have anything until about a half hour ago. Thanks to the Peas I'm getting an iPhone 7 plus for Christmas. Dd is going to be thrilled to upgrade from my old 5 that I used for 2 years, stored for a year and now she's used it for a year to my 6 that is in perfect condition! She thinks I had to trade it in but I paid it off and will wrap it up for her.

My mom is a woman with few needs and probably fewer wants. She lives near a spectacular beach that is great for walking and we also have a family camp (ie. Extremely rustic, no electricity or running water) with pristine beaches. So, I'm excited to give her a metal detector so she can search for treasure on her beach strolls. Also, if I can get my butt in gear, I hope to make her a shadow box with pebble art of 5 birds representing her and her sisters. Something like this with stones that I collected from "her" beach this summer.
