Lego Millennium Falcon for dh - he's going to be really surprised.
Hamilton necklace for dd, 14, but also a Ravenclaw t shirt: she always bemoans the fact that you can get loads of gryffindor stuff but not ravenclaw, I'd already ordered her a custom printed hoodie that she told me about but then when I was in France last month I found a ravenclaw shirt, she's going to flip!
I bought ds, 18, a slytherin custom printed hoodie too which he is going to love.
DH has decided to buy both the kids fairly random, fun presents this year so ds is getting an rc flying dragon & dd is getting a mermaid tail blanket & mermaid socks. I've got him a wall climbing car & apparently he's got me something equally random. I think we might have to open these all at the same time!

We got all the nieces and nephews (and our older two kids) Go-pros. They range in age from 3-12 and we're in Cabo for the holidays. They are water proof and I think the kids are going to love them. I already gave dh his big present and he wasn't as excited as I hoped he would be. Oh well.

We have been saving up for a European vacation. We finally booked airfare, but haven't told our sons. We will surprise them with a box filled with London guidbook, map, British candy and the printed itinerary will be at the bottom of the box. The extra surprise will be that we are going to Disneyland Paris for 3 days too.

I'm looking forward to giving my cruisin' buddy her gifts this year. We went on a cruise in 2008 out of Barcelona. Before that we stopped in London and Paris. Excursions were to Malta, Rome, Sorrento, Pisa, Nice, Monaco, and Capri. So we always try to get things that will remind us of our fun trip. Last year I was able to get a bunch of Kurt Alder ornaments for a lot of the stops. She was thrilled and I wondered how I would top last year. LOL. So, usually things for Malta and Capri are hard to find. One day I'm searching Amazon for something from Malta and found this cobalt blue shot glass. Perfect! Searching some more I found ones for Paris, Rome, London, Napoli, Capri & Barcelona. She's going to love them!

An antique pocket watch for DH. I have spent I don't know how many hours learning about pocket watches in the past couple months. I ended up learning that one of our country's largest watch makers was once located less than 10 miles from my house. I drive by the former site of the factory on a very regular basis (it's long gone). The watch factory had a planetarium that it used to regulate time in the factory. That planetarium still exists and is used by our school district. I always wondered how a school district ended up with its own planetarium. Figured that out while learning about the watches. The watch I got DH was made right down the road in 1900, fully functional and meant to be carried.

That is great! You will have to post after Christmas and let us know her reaction. Sorry to hear about your DS. Thank you, lemondrop. I bet she will be so excited for the saddle! Sending well wishes for your son.

Just everything. This is my first Christmas post-divorce, and while I don't have my kids on Christmas Day, I want to show them that we can have a happy holiday when we do have our celebration. Ex-H was always a grump about Christmas; this will be a happy one! Plus, I managed to get everything they asked me for (they're teens and were very reasonable with their asking)! Hoping this is the beginning of many wonderful Christmas traditions!

I think I already gave the gifts I'm most excited about. My husband's family exchanged gifts at Thanksgiving. I gave my SILs each an Irish wool poncho and they loved them, and they looked really great in them, too. I got my FIL a thermos for his coffee in a retro buffalo check, which he really, really liked, and some coffee from a local roaster. And I gave my 12-year-old niece a framed photo with three 5x7 cutouts. One had a picture of her playing field hockey, one had a silhouette of a girl playing field hockey, and one had a saying: "She thought she could and so she did." My niece LOVED it. She's super sentimental and totally devoted to field hockey. So we'll spend Christmas with my family...I like what I've gotten, but I'm not feeling super excited about it. I got my mom an Irish wool shawl that I really hope she will like. (Yes, it's an Irish wool kind of year, apparently.) The other gifts will be fine, but I'm not thrilled or anything. I am so happy those Irish wool ponchos were a hit! They looked awesome for the price!

I am excited to give my dad a book: Stories from the Leopold Shack. Aldo Leopold was a conservationist and my dad, as a hunter, is big on conservation. A few years ago, he'd asked me to track down Aldo's book, A Sand County Almanac. This new book is by Aldo's youngest daughter (I think). I hope he'll like it-- it isn't often I have something I can actually surprise him with. Some of you may have been in the thread where we talked about vintage sequin/bead ornaments. My mom had made some in the 70s. She wrapped them each year in Viva paper towels when they were put away. My sister and I loved unpacking them each year, and took turns picking one out and opening it to see which one it was, and calling dibs. One summer, my mother GOT RID OF THE ORNAMENTS (although to be fair, that was shortly before we learned she had brain cancer). We recovered a few she had given to relatives, but not all of them. My sister said she wanted some "of those ornaments like we used to have that mom made." There are lots on the internet but most are not quite like the ones we had. And then... I found these on etsy and if the yellow one had come hanging from broken fishing wire, I'd have sworn that these were our exact ornaments. I think she'll be super pumped for these. (Cuz she can't have the ones on my tree. LOL.)

Most excited about giving D/H Swarovski binoculars. He alway drools over them and says some day, well some day is December 26, 2016. Was also excited about giving him an Instant Pot but that turned out to be a no go - previous thread on that event. But he is getting an Echo and think he will have a blast with that little device. He Is getting a bunch of cool things and really excited about them all but mostly happy about just hanging out together and playing with our new toys over the break. I'm excited yet also nervous about giving my mom the Instant Pot I got her. I love mine and think if she gives it a chance she'll love it too. It's perfect for taking in her RV too. But I'm worried she won't like it. But I took a chance and got it for her anyway

A kind friend gave me tickets to an NHL game for NY Eve.. I am giving this to my dgc as well as a hockey jersey & we will be spending the night in the city, doing NYE stuff. He has wanted to go to a game for a long time, but tickets are expensive and good seats are nearly impossible to get. Win-win as the parents can now have a kid free NYE & sleep in the next morning. What are you excited to give to someone? We went to a Penguins game a couple years ago on NYE and had a great time. We were planning to do it again this year, but Ohio State is in a playoff game at the same time, so we are going to stay home and watch that instead.

Excited to give DS the clarinet lamp DH made. For DH, he lost his favorite golf pullover that he got as a gift at a golf tournament. I tracked down the organizer and he ordered a new one for me. DH is going to be thrilled. Although both of them are going to get other gifts, these are the two I am most excited about.

I am excited to be giving cooking lessons to my 20 something kids! DD is ok w/cooking...she can find her way around a recipe, but could always use some tips and hints and learn to make more dishes. DS has no clue about cooking. He just got a studio apt and does little to no cooking. I am hoping that he gets enough out of it that he'll start eating in more often. The good thing is that if something comes up on the nights for the classes I have picked, they can switch to another night. I think it'll be a fun activity for them to do together. I would love for DS to go to cooking lessons but I can't find any around here. So far it's just the book Help! My Apartment Has a Kitchen!

My mum is coming over today for Christmas dinner. I am giving her the Ancestry DNA kit. I'm excited about that, she won't be expecting it. I bought it thanks to the Peas (1) for making me aware of it in the first place, and (2) for posting about the discount price a couple of weeks ago.

Also, if I can get my butt in gear, I hope to make her a shadow box with pebble art of 5 birds representing her and her sisters. Something like this with stones that I collected from "her" beach this summer. Wow, I LOVE it!!! I'm so glad you shared this.

My mom is a woman with few needs and probably fewer wants. She lives near a spectacular beach that is great for walking and we also have a family camp (ie. Extremely rustic, no electricity or running water) with pristine beaches. So, I'm excited to give her a metal detector so she can search for treasure on her beach strolls. Also, if I can get my butt in gear, I hope to make her a shadow box with pebble art of 5 birds representing her and her sisters. Something like this with stones that I collected from "her" beach this summer. That is so cool. I might be able to "draw" those.

I'm giving my parents an echo dot. They are in NC and I am in NY, mainly for the ask my buddy app. This way I can get a text and close friends who live near them can get a text as well should something happen. Plus I think they will get a kick out of it.

My ds is finishing his first semester at Columbia so I am flying him home from NYC to Oregon for Christmas. He told me not to get him anything for Christmas because of the expense of the flight but I bought him a special camera lens and new filters that were on his Amazon wish list. He is going to be so excited! (He is in Columbia's Directing / Screenwriting Graduate Program.) I'm giddy with excitement for Christmas!

I bought matching dirtbike gear for my husband and son. Our son is 3 1/2 and daddy just started taking him to the track to ride. I think my husband is going to love the gift more than he will!
