So I am trying to get out of my scrapping rut.... I went to actually work on something yesterday (had the time, the new photos and a clean desk) and I'm out of adhesive... again. The kind I have been using forever is not really easy to find locally anymore, so I was looking at ATG's (since it seems like the tape roll lasts a while). What is a good price though? For both the gun thing, and the refills. Also what big box store carries the refills, for emergency "out of adhesive" situations?
Thanks!

I bought my atg at M's with a 50% off coupon. I think it was $20 originally. Could have been $25. I always use a coupon for refills. I think the regular price is around $9. Some people buy a lot of refills on eBay that are a different brand but still fit. I'm sure someone will come along and share who the seller is.
PS I love my atg and don't have any need to try anything new.
I forgot to add that there are two kinds of refills- acid free and non acid free. The acid free is around $9 and the non acid free is a few dollars cheaper.

I'm pretty sure Ms, JS and HL all carry the gun and refills. Stock is not always consistent though. Use a coupon.

I bought mine at Hobby Lobby forever ago with a coupon. Maybe a 40% off coupon? I get refills on Amazon but they've really been pissing me off lately. The adhesive keeps sticking to the previously used paper and stops coming out. So I waste a ton of adhesive trying to get it back to normal.

I bought mine from this company: Framing Supplies and always buy my refills from them in bulk. I probably buy 7 rolls / year. I don't do 12x12 layouts hardly, but I do PL every week, WITL/DITL, and DD. I got my gun over 7 years ago (it was red and clear) and spray painted it and used rub ons on it so it's now purple and white with some super old Christmas rub ons that have lasted because I put a thin coat of modge podge over them. Best investment ever! I've seen the refills all over the place.

I get my refills in a group buy on another board I'm on. I'm well stocked up now and shouldn't have to buy for a long time. ONE THING, if you are very chemically sensitive, do NOT buy the 3M ATG acid free refills. They are awful, give me and many other people headaches and it isn't easy to "air" out the things because then dust gets stuck on the sides if you put them out in the garage or something. I forgot where we get our group buy tape, think it is Tape Depot, their acid free is good and don't stink. It is a little more forgiving than 3M because as long as you don't press down, you can move things a big. One other thing, keep an empty reel to put on TOP of the full reel before you close the lid on the ATG. That keeps the tape on the edge and not wandering all over the place. The first few times you try to open the dispenser, it is almost impossible to get open but after that, works great. I have two because occasionally DH steals one of mine for a project and I got tired of looking for it!

I bought mine with a coupon probably Michael's. I buy refills at Michael's when i have a 50% off coupon. Acid free refill (2 rolls) is $9.99 retail and non acid free is $5.99. I have better luck with acid free. The other tends to stick to the tape liner instead of my paper at times. refills are carried at Michael's, Hobby Lobby and my two LSS.

Tape Depot.com and we do a group buy. I think it comes out to $1.64.

Bought my ATG on Amazon if I remember correctly and I get refills at Tape Depot, 1/2 a case at a time, which is 12 rolls. It lasts me awhile and I love the tape, though there is a hit of a chemical/glue type smell to them, FYI. Can't beat the price!! And the tape is really sticky, which I love!!

I got my ATG and I buy my refills from FramingSupplies.com. I buy a dozen refills at a time and I just order a new dozen when I insert the last roll.

Even on ANY brand, I've heard people have some where the tape starts off on the wrong side of the paper and it IS easily fixed. My biggest thing I like is that the NON 3M ATG acid free tape does NOT have that overwhelming chemical smell.

OK I ordered one from Amazon. My closest craft store (local chain) sells the tape and sometimes they have coupons and probably our J's (tiny, I hate going in there but now I have an excuse), and M's (not quite so local), so at least there are options if I have a tape emergency.

Michaels has the best coupon but might be a little higher in price. My husband got me an AARP card when I turned 50. Michaels gives you an additional 10% off for being old. 😄

I have an ATG and like the strength of the tape, but I am left handed so it can be awkward to use....so I also use tombow dot adhesive and stampin up snail....I'm also a Gemini so as you can see many sides!! LOL!!

I do have an ATG gun. I have two different models. I mainly use the tape without the gun. The tape always starts off on the wrong side. In the middle it does it again. Right at the end. I have used three tapes in the last two months that has done this. I just thought it was the way 3M designed the tape. Thanks for posting because I will look into the off brands. I was not annoyed the tape was doing this but I found it wasteful. I don't like being wasteful.

It wasn't a big deal. It only wastes about a foot of tape at the most. I have noticed this issue in the last three tapes I have used, that is all. I live by a 3M plant. I just thought it was the way the tape is made at that company. Your 3M plant might be a different distributor who uses a different kind of machine and the tape does not have this small issue. My plant it just might be a calibration error they are not aware of. I hope I clarified a bit.

For those who have success with non-3M brand tape refills, can you link to the exact ones you buy? If they're on Amazon, even better.

The last time I purchased a sub pack (24 rolls) from The Tape Depot . It came out to $1.98 per roll with free shipping to Hawaii which is a good deal for me. You may be able to find cheaper elsewhere...
