I was on the road and couldn't stop so no picture. The car was a newer one and the back doors opened up like a De'Lorian (sorry if spelled wrong) but the front doors looked like they opened regular like. It was not a van but looked like a small mid-size car. Just curious

I heard a rumor that the Delorian was going to be made again. I haven't kept up to see. My brother in law has one of the old ones and he told me they were going to make them again.

Could be a aftermarket kit modification. Recently test drove a Daytona with the gull wing doors.

They're called gull wing doors. You can buy a kit and put gull wings on lots of cars. My husband is looking for a new limo and one of his "requirements" is Lamborghini doors that lift up. Must be a man thing.

Tesla Model X (DH is lusting over it!) Tracey edited for autocorrect Dgs and I just saw one, too. They are calling the doors Falcon Wings. We saw two kids get out of the back seat and were so surprised! I didn't realize they had come out already! clicky

Tesla model X!! It is the most fantastic car, I absolutely love mine. So much more fun than a mini van to drive. The doors are awesome, it makes it so much easier to get three kids in and out of the car.
There are many, many things I love about it. Some random things... - When it's raining the doors keep you dry when loading and unloading kids. - There is a button on the touch screen that allows you to close all the doors at once (you can close then individually too). - There is a button on the starting wheel that you can push and ask it to play any song you want and it will play it. - There is an incredible amount of storage. Between the frunk (front trunk), the back, and the lower back you can range a ton. We recently did four days at Disneyland, luggage for 5 and a double stroller all fit fine. - Mine seats up to 7, but we don't use the back row very often since I can fit 3 carseats in the main middle row. The back row folds down giving more trunk space. - The driver's door closes when you put you foot on the brake - silly, but I love that! - The acceleration is incredible!!! - Tesla's customer service is amazing, dh tried opening the back lower compartment with stuff on to and snapped the handle (totally his fault) I went in and I had a new one at no charge in less than 5 minutes. - And lots of other awesomeness.
We're in the bay area and they're everywhere. There are at least 8, same color and everything, at my kid's school. I asked for my birthday to get it wrapped or painted so it's easier to identify.
Most fantastic car ever!!

Most fantastic car ever!! This may be a dumb question, is this car electric and gas or all electric? If all electric, what do you do when you've run out of range on that long of trip? I imagine you plug in of course, but doesn't that take a long time?

There's one at our daycare. It is pretty awesome and the kids get a kick out of the doors.

I did a half country road trip in one, it took about 30 minutes if i remember correctly to charge. About as long as it took us to go inside, do a restroom break with the kids, stretch for a minute and grab coffee

So I checked out the link for the Tesla...did anyone else crack up at the bioweapons defense mode?? I did because it was either that or cry at the fact that the engineers felt it might be necessary at some point. And now I've added a Tesla to my "when I win the lottery bucket list." StephDRebel, how much does it cost to charge it at the charging station?

I imagine you plug in of course, but doesn't that take a long time? It is all electric. There are super chargers all along the route. We stop, plug in, do a bathroom stop(3 kids), sometimes eat, and then head out. We tend to stop for 30-45 minutes. Which with the three kids it's a good break and I usually nurse the baby. The super chargers can bring you to a full charge in under an hour. I have a 90d so at max I have a 250 mile range.

StephDRebel , how much does it cost to charge it at the charging station? Charging is free at the super chargers (tesla maintains them). But cars bought after January 1 will get the first 1,000 miles a year free and then there will be a small fee after that. Both of ours are grandfathered in to free super charging for life. We have used bioweapon! On the drive down 5 there is a couple huge castle ranches right on the freeway and they stink! So we use bio mode then! Also nice if you get behind a big truck that is spewing stinky stuff.

Regular charge point or other commercial chargers that any electric cars can use do take longer. The super chargers are the fast ones and they only charge Tesla's.
