I am trying to use soft cups since I know tampons are bad for you especially if you have endometriosis like I do. How long does it take to get use to cups? I hope I got it in the right way. I got the disposable soft cups first to see if I could get use to it. I know tampons have dioxin in them and pesticides from the cotton so I am really trying to avoid them.

I found the disposable cups horrid to use. Very hard to remove. I like the Diva cup much better. Easier to insert and remove. It took me several months to get proficient with it. I tried tampons a couple times recently and found them very uncomfortable.

Isn't the diva cup stiffer?

I can't imagine trying to remove one...I think I'll stick with tampons for now.

I would love to know as well. I have been toying with the idea for years but have just never gotten around to it.

I haven't used disposable ones but used the diva cup for a few years. I agree it might take a couple of months to get used to it but I found it pretty comfortable.
I remember the instructions that came with the cup as being pretty helpful.

I tried the diva cup and it didn't work for me. I think my periods were too heavy and apparently the place where it goes is curved a bit, so that was probably why it was uncomfortable. I tried for a month or two and had to give up.

I've used the Keeper for almost 14 years now. I think it took a cycle or two to really get used to it. Cutting off the tail made a big difference but the main thing was confidence - being confident when inserting that you've got it in right and being confident in removing that you're not going to make a huge mess. I remembering when I first got it, putting it in/taking it out in the shower so if I did make a mess, it was easy to clean.
and on a side note - I was impressed by the NP I recently saw for my colposcopy -she asked how many pads I go through a day, I shrugged and said I use a menstrual cup and she didn't blink an eye - that was a nice change

I used a keeper for 10 years and have used a Mooncup for the past 4 years. The Mooncup opens much more easily than the keeper and is easier to use generally. I love it so much.

Have the diva cup, it's really easy to use. The disposable ones seemed to have a different shape and weren't very effective (at least from what I remember.)
It will take you probably a month or two to get used to it. Not difficult at all, just something new to get used to. I've had mine for years now, but I got it just prior to vacation and used it on vacation. I used a pad as backup to make sure, but I had little trouble with it.

I tried for a month or two and had to give up. I used the Diva cup until my fibroids tried to kill me I think it took maybe 2-3 cycles before I was comfortable. Then, with the fibroids, my periods were WAY too heavy. Even the Diva couldn't handle the flow. Nothing could.

Thanks everyone! Right now it's driving me crazy. I will stick with tampons. I don't feel them. The thought of something in me driving me crazy would make me crazy!

Been using a moon cup for 10 years. Was a convert after my first cycle. It takes a while to get used to the lower position it needs compared to tampons. And to get the right length of handle for pulling it out but not feel it when it is in.
Good luck

It took me one cycle to get used to the Diva cup. I had problems with very heavy flow so I used a panty liner in addition to it. I seriously loved using the Diva Cup. I just wish I'd started using it sooner.
I also used the Instead disposable cup. The shape, insertion and removal are very different from the Diva Cup. The Instead cup is more the size and shape of a diaphragm, whereas the Diva cup is more similar to a shot glass.

I liked my diva cup right away but sometimes it would be stabby if I didn't place it just right. So I turned it inside out and the clouds opened and angels sang. Now it's perfect!

I couldn't use the soft cups-the diameter is so huge they were uncomfortable for me. I have the UK Mooncup and it's super easy. I don't use it much though, because I have a funky bladder and it makes me feel like I always have to pee. I have a diva cup too but prefer the UK Mooncup. It's a lot more flexible and easy to insert/remove.
