I've made this many times and was looking at the Knoor package. It says to cook the drained, frozen spinach first.
I've never done that and no one has complained.
Have I been doing it wrong or are these new directions?
Do you cook yours first?

The Canadian version does not say to cook it. I've made it twice this season already and had rave reviews!

I would cook fresh spinach just long enough to wilt it, but frozen is the right texture once defrosted so no need to cook it.

Usually just put the frozen spinach in the microwave enough to thaw it, which probably does cook it a bit. I also made it forever without really "seeing" the cook instruction until fairly recently.
It's yummy!

I always use fresh spinach.
Frozen spinach just has a super odd taste no matter what you mix it with.

I'm not sure what kind of dip you're making, but I would not cook frozen spinach first.
I make a warm cob loaf dip and I use fresh baby spinach leaves rather than frozen spinach. After I've cooked the bacon I put the spinach in for a quick stir just to wilt it.

Frozen spinach is already cooked according to Google so I find it very odd. I wonder if the cooking instruction is somehow related to the occasional contamination of fresh spinach with E. coli?

We make a crockpot spinach artichoke dip, so it's doubly cooked I guess.

Frozen spinach is cooked. You just thaw, drain, and use. Those instructions are bizarre.

Knoor's spinach dip is crack! I swear I can eat that stuff straight by the spoonful. I haven't made it this year; probably for the best. And no, I don't cook the frozen spinach, it's already cooked.
