I have a class today on drawing/painting faces, and then classes tomorrow on color and techniques. Really excited! I am so lucky to have a LSS that offers such great teachers (I have taken classes there with Tim Holtz, Heidi Swapp, Dyan Reavely and Marion Smith)

Mamashosh, are you talking about Scrapbook Island?! If so, I LOVE THAT PLACE!!!
I live in Chicago but one of my BFF lives in San Jose and visited her so I had to visit that store & Laurie (LOVE her too!).

Yes, Scrapbook Island. I was on their first design team, and I am a huge fan of Laurie and the Island girls.
The workshops were amazing. Dina is a generous, funny, warm, approachable, and easy to follow teacher. I took three classes: faces, color, and techniques. I learned a lot in all three classes, but I think the class on faces was my favorite because it was so outside of my comfort zone.

Watch some videos on you tube.,.buy a technique book and peruse blogs! Slap some gesso on a page and grab a stencil and some paint and just start. Don't start in the front of your book...go to the middle . I hate starting in the front of any sketchbook! Way too intimidating LOL..I just open it and start on what ever page it falls to. Don't let fear keep you from using supplies you have bought b/c then guilt sets in and you will only be even more upset ! |

you know me so well paintchic because that is exactly how I feel...it would be so better to have someone right in front of me...
I do watch on you tube when I can but where we are the provider here will not let me download, I have to go into town to the library and I will download to the computer so I have it at home...
Starting is the problem for me...I have the supplies and a room full of art treats...
