We usually go out for a nice dinner at a favorite restaurant, but now that the first round of the college football playoffs are on NYE, we won't be doing that. I might still consider it except that Clemson is my DS's favorite team, and they are in the 7 p.m. game. So I think I'll make some appetizer type snacks and we'll nosh and watch football and then watch the ball drop on TV.

Not much, I'm no longer a fan of pubs on NYE, the atmosphere is now one of 'when is shit gonna kick off' rather than celebration.

NYE is what we to call "amateur night". People who rarely go out in the evening are driving around in a stupor and acting like idiots on the road. In my youth I was a musician that always played on NYE and the commute home was just frightening. I stay home safe with the dogs.

We have an annual New Years party with a group of friends we've known, well, forever since we all went to school together and are from the same hometown. It's been tradition for 16 years!
My DH and I hosted the first one the year we got married, in our little apartment! The venue has changed over the years, as more have gotten married, bought houses, and had kids. Now it rotates houses between our friends who still live in our hometown, so the grandparents can babysit our kids for us!
We used to go to bars, but now we bring appetizers, have some drinks, and play games. Cards again humanity is usually played, along with some old drinking games. It's a night full of friends and lots and lots of laughs, and a few stories about the crazy years! (We are all 35-40ish now). I look forward to it every year!

I'm going to work until 9 and then write out the quotes on my calendar, start my soul purpose and manifestation journal, read all the insights for 1-1-1, and go outside at midnight to listen to everyone celebrating. Oh and boyfriend will be enjoying the Twilight Zone Marathon and probably have a mamosa.

My children will help me make kale, carob, and breastmilk cookies, and then after bfing my 6, 18, 42 and 74 month olds, we will cuddle in our family bed singing traditional carols in their original languages until we all, naturally, drift off into peaceful sleep.
We believe in quiet celebrations. I'm sure your all doing your best with screen time and noisemakers to force your children into the new year. We feel we should gently and organically lead our children into 2017
I imagine your children will still find some happiness in 2017, so happy new year!

My 2 nieces and their husbands are arriving today to stay for the weekend. We are going to do an Escape Room tomorrow afternoon and then on to an Italian restaurant for dinner. I think we will be up playing games until after midnight.

Oh crap, it is almost new year's eve isn't it? I guess I need to run up to Publix and make sure I have some black eyed peas (I'll make hoppin' john on new year's day.) Since it snuck up on me, I'm thinking that my evening will involve watching tv until I fall asleep on the couch.

We're not sure yet. For 20 years either my sister or I have hosted a small party for brothers/sisters/ and close friends. 10-15 people. We eat, drink, play poker then watch the ball drop. For the past couple neither of us has done it for various reasons. Some friends are having a small get together that we are invited to, but I don't know that we're going. We may not decided til tomorrow afternoon!
Tonight we are doing Painting with a Twist so that will be fun, but I'm still not sure about tomorrow. I haven't been sleeping well this week - I'm so damn tired right now that the idea of partying tomorrow night gives me anxiety lol

Well, our plans have solidified.
Getting pizza take-out for lunch.
And I bought New Year's kit at Walgreen's today for $7.99, just so I can snap some pics of us wearing silly hats, tiaras, and using the noisemakers. LOL.

The rest of my family are away. I'm going to my oldest friend's house. We've been friends for 43 years and we've never spent NYE together!

I have no plans for NYE - I have errands, etc to do in the morning, and once I get home do not plan to go out again until Sunday morning when I have to go get DH at the airport (he is visiting his sister and an aunt in Illinois). I have plenty of needlepoint and crochet projects (as well as sb projects) to keep me busy and will be seeking out movies or series to watch on tv. Looking forward to a quiet evening.

We don't have any real plans. We have been away for Christmas so didn't make any NYE plans which is fine with me. Our weather is a perfect 32/90 during the day and midnight it will be 23/73. At this stage I'm going to sit by the pool and read in the afternoon, have a swim, eat prawns and salad for dinner and drink champagne. I'll watch the the fireworks on TV and then go to bed

Ugh...I had forgotten about the fireworks----our doggies run around, bark, and sometimes go and hide under our desks or in the darkest, quietest room they can find I hate that they and everyone else's pets are traumatized by them! I'm kind of in the mood to make some yummy appetizers and go to our friends' house and play "Cards Against Humanity" like someone said upthread....but I'd hate to leave "da puppsh" at home alone with all the firework noise

We are having seafood for dinner. I have been asked for scallops the way I made them before.
We will also call the grandparents in Japan to wish them a happy new year.
