The boy formerly known as my sweet, fun, compassionate child is now known the giver of cooties far and wide. He doesn't have much of an appetite. DH and oldest ds, who is nursing an injured hand from his first and last attempt at ice skating, are the only two people interested in food. We're debating about whether or not this hand requires medical attention or just ice and mommy love. It looks really swollen. So, I'll let them fend or eat sandwiches. I'm waiting for a call back from the nurse to see if I can still have my procedure tmw, despite being sick. That's often a no-no, but in this case I'll be sedated, but conscious, because those sadists need audience participation for this procedure. I need to have this done asap, because I cannot feed w/o it. It's like a triage unit inside my house. I'm painting a red EMERGENCY sign on my driveway if this doesn't stop. My acupuncturist squeezed me in this am and I'm hoping she will knock this cold out quickly. My sons refused to go. They don't believe me when I tell them it's not at all like getting a shot and will really help.
Enough of this ramble. What's on your menu?
Have a delightful Tuesday.

Wow, when it rains it pours in your house. Hopefully your procedure can be done regardless. Hugs to you and your family. I'm thinking homemade vegetable beef soup for dinner.

Leftovers from Christmas. Or nothing. I still don't care one way or the other. But on a positive note, everyone raved about my Christmas meal. We had a total of 12 people (4 of those kids). My ham turned out perfect and I did the mashed potatoes in the IP. ETA: scrapmaven, hope you get your procedure done and heal quickly. And all the sickies get better.

Wow, scrapmaven. Sounds like your family is taking the family togetherness/all-for-one-one-for-all thing to the extreme. I hope you are all feeling better soon and I really hope you're able to have your procedure as planned. We're having hamburger steaks in creamy onion gravy, mashed potatoes, and roasted broccoli and cauliflower.

Tonight we are going to have steaks, salad, and baked potatoes. This is what I was suppose to make last night but we had a change of plans. Our 2nd son wanted to bring his girlfriend home to meet the parents (us) we went to Red Robin. The girl is very sweet but quiet. I think I was the same way when my dh took me to meet his parents 30+ years ago! She seems completely smitten with our boy!
scrapmaven gee your house does sound like a danger zone!! Hope you all get to feeling better asap! Hopefully your procedure will go as planned.

I currently have the turkey carcass in the pot with onion, rosemary, carrots, celery, bay leaves, salt and pepper.
Been going to 2 hours so far, have at least 4 more hours to go.
So I am serving turkey vegetable soup and gluten free blueberry muffins.

scrapmaven, hope you all feel better SOON! We've got the sinus-sore throat-hacking cough-crud here, so it's chicken noodle soup for us. I'll add some ginger and lots of garlic, so hopefully that will boost the benefits of the soup.

Hmmm...we need a RP tribal intercession for scrapmaven ! All good thoughts today go to your home, your family, and to you. No good thoughts on my supper. Leftovers of so many things that do not go together. Back in 1963, my home ec teacher graded our meal choices on how colors complemented each other. Turnips, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and white bread received a failing grade. I fail tonight with everything red - ribs, spaghetti with meat sauce, baked beans, and some homemade bread I might as well spray paint red. But I need to clean out the refrigerator tomorrow so Ms. Bohon, please forgive me for the matchy matchy meal. Thanks for the thread. Stay calm and we will all send our good vibes your way, scrapmaven .

Hope everything settles down at your house scrapmaven and everyone feels better! I think we'll have beef stew from the freezer tonight, along with some biscuits and leftover green bean casserole. I guess Watergate salad for dessert.

Sorry for all who aren't feeling well or are tending to loved ones who don't.
Today was day 2 of visits...one more tomorrow then I will do nothing until Saturday! I love seeing people but socializing isn't my strong suit. I could easily be a hermit.
Anyway, tonight I'm making fried chicken wings in the Copper Chef pan dh bought us for Christmas. It has a fry basket so I'm going to give it a whirl. I may cut up some veggies to go with since we really should eat something healthy! There's still 2 pieces of cheesecake so that may be dessert.

I made Bean soup with some of the leftover ham, so DH and DS will have that tonight with some brown and serve rolls. DH and I are dying for a steak or anything substantial - with DS out of commission due to wisdom tooth extraction, we weren't eating the good stuff last week!

Today is DH's name day, which the Greek's traditionally celebrate instead of your birthday, so I think I will surprise him with an old favorite that I haven't made in years: youvarlakia. Also know as meatballs and egg-lemon soup, I'll serve it with a crusty bread and sauteed green beans and carrots.
I hope all the sick & injured heal quickly!

desertgirl, My acupuncturist did everything, but a rain dance in order to knock this out of my system. I called the doc office for the procedure and they said that as long as I'm not running fever to come in tmw. So, my acupuncturist focused on my immune system and also being able to endure the procedure tmw w/o much pain. Thanks for thinking of us everyone. If anyone needs triage just come over. We have call ahead seating.

All my best to the entire scrapmaven household. DH is working a long day today; I'm not even sure when he'll be home. Since I'm home today, I'm making him a decent meal to come home to. Fried chicken (from Publix), a salad, home made corn bread dressing and some sort of veggie. I also made him another spice cake. We had spice cake for his birthday last week, but he didn't get much. This cake is all his. I just finished frosting the cake with a cream cheese icing. I had leftover icing and it reminded me of a special treat when we were kids. Did you ever eat icing on graham crakers?! I loved that when I was young.

um. I think I'm going to be alone tonight for the first time in a week. Maybe I'll pick up the 7yo from those people who kidnapped him for Christmas and we'll finish watching HP #3. There's what's left of our HoneyBaked ham in the fridge or I can scrounge together something else. I'm out of potatoes but he loves rice, anyway. ETA sorry scrapmaven! Hope you and all the others who are laid up at your house start feeling better. Also the rest of you out there in Pea-dinner-land who aren't feeling 100%.

tuesdaysgone we used to eat leftover chocolate frosting on saltine crackers. Your cream cheese frosting would be great on graham crackers! Would you care to share your spice cake recipe?

Good Morning. Our dinner last night was marinated chicken thighs on the grill, with cous cous salad and grilled aubergine. Simple, but really tasty. I am very impressed this week by how well my younger DS can cook - he is feeding us very well.
We're about to set our for our last day of sightseeing in Canberra, before flying down to Melbourne tomorrow to stay with our older son and visit most of the rest of our families.

Today is my 2d anniversary so dh and I have reservations at a lovely restaurant.
My mom and Jackie will be staying home and having dinner together while we're gone; mom has a Wegman's sub (which she loves) and Jackie has sushi.

So I am serving turkey vegetable soup and gluten free blueberry muffins. I'm pretty much doing the same thing but I'm adding wild rice.
