Hi I live on a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighbourhood on a dead end street. There is a white truck that goes up and down my street all the time now. He drives at a walking pace up the street. The truck isn't new, but it isn't old either. It does make a lot of noise as it goes up and down the street. (We live on a hill) and I can't for the life of me figure out who it belongs to or why they are doing this. The next door neighbour is a Mountie and I might call and ask them if they have noticed anything weird, too. They are new to the street so maybe they will know or if it's their truck it will put my mind at ease.
It's just really weird.

I noticed a truck driving slowly around my neighborhood and eventually made the connection that it was on trash days - he was looking for salvageable trash. Someone could also be looking for a lost animal. Or they could be casing the place.
If I couldn't figure out what he was doing, I would call the police and ask for extra patrols.

I would ask your neighbor to verify the driver's identification. It's better to be safe than sorry. I also live in a cul-de-sac neighborhood with 2 LEO's. They have no qualms about checking ID of people that don't live in the area.

There was a car driving around my neighborhood that I knew didn't belong here. I know almost every car in the neighborhood and this one didn't go where the houses are, it just went up and down the central trunk and left. Repeatedly. My neighborhood is 120 houses and has one central street with two clusters and I'm the HOA Vice President so I know almost everyone at least by sight.
So I called the police and asked them to run the plates and description. An officer called me and said the driver had been spotted before in other neighborhoods and it's because he drives around smoking because his wife gets mad if he smokes in front of the house.
He sets off my creep radar every time I see him but that's the explanation at least.

I was bothered by a delivery van (with full logo for a company about a mile away) coming into my cul de sac, turning around then driving off without stopping. I'll swear it happened over a dozen times one afternoon, about every 15 mins, then the same thing a couple of weeks later. I finally figured out they had L plates on and were training up new delivery drivers or examining potential employees- but it was disconcerting to say the least

I would have someone check it out. A week or two ago, my husband and I were concerned (a little bit) by a white truck driving down our cul de sac (that only has two houses). That evening an email went out to the neighborhood association that they had knocked on some doors, and burglarized one house, getting caught on camera.

UPS has been delivering by bicycle. It freaked my elderly neighbor out. She thought the poor guy was riding around the neighborhood stealing packages. Fortunately, our regular USPS carrier was on hand to set her mind at ease.

Depends on your police dept, ours always says to call if something is off in your neighborhood. They do come and check it out. Now my MIL lives in the city, they'd probably laugh at her if she did that. But yeah I'd try to get a license # or picture or something and call the police if your creep factor is going off.

I had a similar situation. Finally figured out that it was a new nanny/babysitter working at the people at the entrance to the cul-de-sac. When she would get off work (which was different times on different days) or go out on errands, she'd drive up to the bubble (where we live) to turn around. It made total sense once I figured it out.

Many years ago our friend's husband was being relocated to Philadelphia. His wife stayed here to finish school etc. Her husband was looking for the new home, so he was slowly cruising neighborhoods looking to see what was going on, upkeep, "tone" of the neighborhood. Next thing he knew, the police pulled him over to find out what he was doing.
We have an older model PU that cruises near trash day looking for things he can salvage.
Our police dept would come and check for you (city of 30,000).

Could be looking for a place to rent or buy. It's a pretty good method frankly for finding places in desirable, quick property moving areas. Trick is you have to be diligent and do it every day. I live on one of those streets that have 8 9 houses, very quiet, close to the ocean, well-maintained, no HOA, and it's in a desirable area. It could be a guy scoping out where he wants to live. It could also be someone's tenant as a couple of houses have suites in them. I forgot about that but there are 2 houses with tenants in them.

Have it checked out. I know of a family whose daughter was nearly abducted by a guy in a van who had repeatedly driven slowly around their suburban neighborhood. Same van was later found owned by a guy who abducted, raped and strangled two other little girls.

Someone in our neighborhood lost their drone tonight, it crashed in our neighbors backyard and they were trying to find it (walking not driving though).
That or trying to get a baby to go to sleep (been there before..)
Just some ideas.

The week before Christmas there was a "different" looking cable company vehicle on our street. He pulled up as I was coming home. I've never seen one of their vehicles look like that. In the next minute or so, a police car came cruising down the street. The officer got out and talked to the guy. I assume everything was on the up and up but I appreciate that the police were checking. I didn't get a close look but it might have been the officer that lives near me.
