We would love some of those features in our house, but plaster walls and catwalks do not play well together.
People design parts of their houses with their children in mind, why not think about what the cats would like as well? (says the person with zero children and 5 cats)

Those are some cool ideas.
At present, DH is opposed to the idea of getting a king sized be to make room for the cat. We have two. Only one likes to sleep with me. Recently, she has started sleeping with both of us and I wake to being sandwiched between DH and the cat. LOL!

I've seen these cat friendly houses on HGTV before We took our dogs into consideration when we bought our house and our SUV. Our dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 2 so we made sure we bought a single story house for him (and my back issues). We also made sure we got a yard for them to run and play in and away from major streets. Inside we have 2 baby gates up for the dogs. We have a doggie door we put in our slider each summer, glass storm doors on our front and back so they can look out but stay in. hmmmm, what else They actually have their own Rubbermaid storage shed outside for all their gear. Oh yea, we bought the RV so we could take them on vacations with us and for dog shows.

Those are always so cute. Our cats run up a 20 foot ladder that's in our living room - left over from when the house was a hardware store. In the Choppy FL house there's a tunnel connecting 2 storage closets the cats discovered and they love racing through it.

My parents built a sunroom onto their house, for the cats. They will both swear that was not the reason, but all I can tell you is that one day my mother and I were talking about how her cats would love to be able to be outside, but could not be out due to being declawed. I said "You should build a sunroom, so it is something cats and humans both use." And within a month they had started building... but not for the cats, nooooo, that would be silly. The cats are in that room most hours of the day and year. But noooooo, not for the cats!

I was just reading the pets/toddlers thread and laughing that my cats think doors are of the devil. If it is closed, they want in (and that includes closed shower curtains.) All told, between children and cats, I think I have used the restroom alone about 10 times over the last 21 years. I just moved into this apartment and it isn't terrible cat friendly. I am working on at least trying to get a window set up for them to watch the world pass them by.

But our two like to sleep on the bed and I don't sleep as well because when I wake up to roll over I have to worry about squashing a damn cat. Although I LOVE my bed, last night finally convinced me that we HAVE to buy a King.

Catifying your home is the term used by Jackson Galaxy, the host of My Cat from Hell on Animal Planet. I would love to catify my family room for our cats.

Imagine the resale value of that home with all the cat lodging along the ceilings…. For the right buyer, that would be a check in the pro column, not the con.
