Is there anything stronger than Pea Livid because I don't think that covers how royally pissed I am right now.
First let me say that I have always lived in a community with a HOA and have never experienced any of the issues I read about from the peas, until now. The housing crash slowed down building in our community considerably however it has started to pick up but there still aren't enough homes built for the homeowners to take over the association so we have a management co. This company has not done it's job. We found out last year at a meeting (the first ever because a bunch of us demanded it) that a large majority of the homeowners here have not be paying their annual dues. Today we get a special assessment letter in the mail in the amount of $589.
If 3/4 haven't paid their dues what in the hell makes them think they will pay this assessment especially since it means the management co would now have the funds to enforce the judgements the assoc has against them. Along with that, part of this assessment is to cover the balance due for snow removal for 2013-2014 to the tune of $22,000. We didn't even have that much snow last year!!!
Love this paragraph: "While every expense spent to collect from the debtors will be included in their debt and ultimately reimbursed to the Association, it still requires time and money, thus tying up current funds, to proceed with collections so we can only proceed when we have the funds to do so." Did you notice it doesn't say the homeowners that pay this assessment will be reimbursed, just the association. I don't think so.
DH is going to blow a gasket when he sees this.
