Have you ever ridden in one or audited one?
Two riders from my barn are doing clinics this winter and they are freaking out.
I was one of his students in the 1960's when he was just beginning his coaching career; both he and my coach (we called them teachers at the time) had both ridden with Gordon Wright. The pony moms on the rail loved him and he flirted with them shamelessly. At thirty or so he was really, really cute.
Anyway, I've watched some videos from recent clinics and he honestly hasn't changed much in his curriculum or methods. He's safety minded, loves the horse and is so gifted at presenting material.
I just had to tell my barnmates (who are eventers OMG) to shuck the screaming pink shin boots, tuck in the ponytail and try to be as invisible as possible!
