I always take the week between Christmas and New Years off as the courts close down that week.
I just checked my emails and voice mails quickly and I'm starting to have an anxiety attack about how much I have to do when I go back to the office on Tuesday.
I have a love-hate relationship with vacation time. I love going to have the fun and relaxation; I hate going because I know the mess I'll come back to.

I always feel I need a vacation after my vacation! But this time of year coming back it is not also about the work, but the traffic - yuck. I live near three schools and a community college, it will be busy on the way to work.

Nope! My work nemesis announced her departure the last day I worked before Christmas. It is certainly starting my 2017 off in the right direction! While I'm not looking forward to having to do her work, I did 50% of it for her anyway so not having to put up with her personality disorder on top of doing her work will be a blessing!

I love being at home. I always dread going back to work. This year I have taken off this week and I love it. I have a good job, there is nothing wrong with it. I just don't want to work anymore. That's not an option right now but this week has shown me just how much I could love not going to work everyday.

It depends. I don't often travel but if I do I never want to go back to work, I want a few days after my trip to just hang out and home but I don't get to do that. If I'm just at home like I am most of the time I'm usually pretty ready to go back to work.

I've been off for two weeks from my school job, and so I'm actually kind of looking forward to getting back into my routines. It's been nice not to have work or schoolwork (I'm doing a pre-doc research project) and as much as it's been nice to lay in bed until 8:30, 9, later - I want to go back to work so that my routine is back in place.

Yes. I dread the first day, but after that things fall back into routine fairly quickly. I'm in an elementary school and at least we have 2 teacher work days before the students get back.

Yes. I only work part time but I've got so many other things that keep me busy through out the year and Christmas holidays is when I mentally take a break. No voicemails are checked, I get startled if I receive texts because I just assume everyone else makes the world stop during holidays 😄. I stay home all day if I absolutely can. And then life has to resume and I get anxious about it.

I go back Monday. I feel rejuvenated and ready for 2nd semester even if I would rather be home.

Sadly due to our lead we never want to go back to the office even after a weekend. Well, most of us don't, her three favorites don't mine at all

My work always closes down the week between Christmas and New Years. I do the bookkeeping, so that has all piled up while we are gone. I love the week off, but when I get back, it will be a mess. Month end, quarterly, year end plus everything else waiting for me. Payroll, salary increases, insurance premiums for employees have gone up. Plus this year I get the added duties of W-2's and 1099's to figure out. I really dislike the month of January.

I just really don't like it right now and the upcoming months are over-whelming to think about.

Totally! Going back to work even after a long weekend causes me anxiety! I know I will walk into work with a ton of messages and calls to return, not to mention that I have a full load this week and finding the time to take care of all that will be a struggle.

I dread it, too. I'm sitting in the airport right now waiting to board a flight home. I have a million things to accomplish in the next two days, both at home and for work. My work situation promises to be brutal this month and I am hoping I can manage it.

Been off since the 15th of December and do not return until the 9th. I am mixed about going back. I like being at home but constantly pressure myself do do projects around the house since I have all this time. Then feel guilty and unproductive if I do something frivolous like play video games or watch tv for more than an hour. I am working on this.
Last week I went in to work for a few hours to do a few things and will do the same this week to help soften the blow of returning.

I do, even though I enjoy my job and have no reason to dread it - I guess I'd rather keep on sleeping past 5 AM and using the bathroom whenever I feel like it. It's the little things.

Ugh yes. I have been assigned a thankless project that my boss tells me is do or die time for me. If I do well in front of the executives, it could lead to the promotion that I have been working towards. But I have basically been asked to come up with a plan to fix decades of incompetence while using the same staff that can't figure out how to use google. Or drink during the work day. Or are so incompetent they basically sit in a corner, breath heavily and suck their thumbs.
So yes, I am really dreading going back on Tuesday! Hopefully some of the job applications I have submitted over the last few weeks will result in interviews.

If I actually went anywhere I would probably not want to go back to work. I had two 3 day weekends (the 26th and 2nd off) so it is perfect. An extra day with the immediate family, and since everyone else at work has the day off, nothing to catch up on. This holiday season was nice and relaxing.

I always feel like I'm not ready to go back to work after a break. And this will be the first major break for me since my husband retired, so I'll be going back to work and he won't.
I do like my job, and wasn't planning to retire for another couple of years, so it's not so much that I want to be retired, it's just that I get into a different routine - like Merge said, sleeping later and peeing and eating whenever I want. I also know that I never sleep well the night before I go back to school.

I'm fortunate enough to have enough vacation and holiday pay to have almost 3 weeks off in December between Christmas and New Year's. I do miss routine because we get into vacation mode really easily. But I don't miss the hustle and bustle of work.
I always have these amazing plans to get all this stuff done on my break but I usually end up relaxing a little more than I probably should.
I'm not quite ready to go back to work even though I don't have to be back until Wednesday!

Though I don't work anymore, I had a full-time career for years and hated every minute of what I was doing. So, the last day or two of vacation I always got cranky, because I knew I was returning to a job that I never enjoyed. If I could do it over, I would have gone into the career I really wanted and things would be different. Alas I do have a lot of compassion for people who are going back to work after a vacation.

I hate dreading, there's no forward energy when I get myself in that mindset. I'm learning to be more present. And a big part of that has to do with embracing what the present moment unfolds (even if that means going back to work )
I didn't take a vacation from work, although I did from school and wasn't planning on going back but feel forced to. I feel if I'm open to it then it won't be as bad to experience vs. dreading it and suffering through it because I'm not being fully present with it. When you dread something you are not being present. You can only be present when you embrace the moment without dread or regret. Resistance distances you from the present. When you embrace the moment, it unfolds to more moments that are embraceable.

I don't dread going back to work after the holidays, but I do check my email daily while I'm off to get rid of any that are junk mail or not work related. That way I only have 100 emails to go through instead of 500 on the first day back!
