Thank you I got the job! I have applied for a job and have an interview for it tomorrow. It is part-time and it is working in a store where I love and tend to buy the clothes a lot (well more than a lot). I just want to work there so I can work with some really fun people and sell stuff I wear myself. I know my salary will go toward my wardrobe but I am good with that. I am just doing it for fun. Does anyone else do something just for fun? Elannah

No, I work full time just for the paycheck to live off of. But I did work in a scrapbook store for 7 years part time just for fun, but the last 5 years were not fun. I just didn't want to give up my discount.

Yes. Freelance writing. I will never be rich from freelancing, no matter how many times my husband urges me to write that bestseller

Yes actually. I have a fun job. I work at a major concert venue in the cash room. We process all of the cash and credit card receipts that come through for that evening. I hired most of the girls I work with (yep, I'm the boss) and we have a blast. But when it's time to work, we put our heads down and go to work. The job isn't hard, or too demanding, but I do work long hours the day of concerts. Probably 12-14 hours, until 2 or 3 am. I just do it because In like it. If it ever becomes too stressful I'd quit. I do like the extra money it brings in.
And I only work 22-26 concerts in the summer. It's also fun to people watch at concerts. We all get out a bit during the concerts to see the crowd, and hear the music.

I do it because I like payday. It's (generally) a fun job but it's not the dream job. BTW, I only know one person in real life who is working their dream job.

I work part time as a volunteer at our animal shelter. I do it strictly for fun...well and also for the reward of helping the cats and dogs I've been considering a part time paying job as well. If it matters, I'm 53, live on my own, and retired, so my idea of fun might differ from someone who is younger.

I work for the money. DH is retired and wants me to quit, but I don't want to be dependent on him, yet.

I volunteer at a museum just because I love the place and it's fun! Someday I hope I can work there full time and actually get paid for it.

I got a job at the school district as a tutor in February. Just on a lark, to dip my toe back into the paid working world after spending the last 17 years as a SAHM, and the last 11 years as an elected official on various PTA Boards, most recently as Council President.
Our kids are almost in college, a second income will be essential, but it has been so long since I applied/interviewed for an actual job.
The process for getting the tutoring job was easy, and because it was only a few hours a week, there was not much competition. I mainly applied to get a paying job on my resume so I could get a better job this year.
BUT I LOVE/D THAT JOB!! If there were any way I could keep it, I would. But I need to find a job with more hours, and more pay.

Yes, I work at a LSS, and I'm lucky to have two nickles to rub together after I pay my "tab" on payday.

I work because of the money and benefits. My husband is permanently disabled and income is tight. We too live paycheck to paycheck.

I work a full-time job, but I have a part-time job that's my passion. Both are important to me; the full-time job pays well and has good benefits, and the part-time job feeds my soul.

I used to teach 4th grade (and other years in 3rd and 5th) in a public school before I got married and had my daughter. When my daughter began school we enrolled her in a Montessori school and I loved it so much I thought if I ever went back to work I would want to work there. So after 10 years of being a SAHM I went back to school to earn my Montessori certification and I now work with one of my best friends (met her through Quinn's school). She bought and opened her own Montessori school. It's just five minutes from my house and I work a few hours in the afternoon. It's been a great transition after not working outside my home for so long. It is absolutely perfect and so much fun. I always tell her I would do it even without the paycheck!

I teach papercrafts one morning a week during term time. I have 8 people in my class and they are all middle-aged women with chronic mental illness. I love them to bits and would take the class even if they stopped paying me.

Not exactly. I don't need the paycheck, but I do need the health insurance...and working gives me a feeling of purpose and somewhere to go each day that is scheduled. I've had a very tough year with the loss of three close family members and working gives me something to keep me grounded. So why do I keep dreaming of the day I "can quit"!?!?!

Heck no! I work mainly for the health insurance and other benefits. The money that doesn't go into retirement savings is for fun and spoiling the grands...

Yes. I'm a teacher's assistant for a 4 year old preschool class. It's 3 half days a week. I love the people I work with and I love the kids. It gives me something to do while my kids are at school. Getting paid, even though it's not much, is just icing on the cake. My itty bitty salary is our "fun" money.

Yes, I have a part-time job that's just for fun. I work at an in-home daycare run by a woman that used to be a para at the elementary school. Originally, I started at the job because my best friend worked there and they needed somebody for coverage and all 3 of my kids were in school. I said I'd help out. Well that BFF is no longer my BFF and she moved about 45 mins away. When she moved, the woman that owns the daycare asked if I'd like to do more than just cover and I said sure. We only take teacher's children so we get all school holidays and vacations off. It varies from year to year how much I work. This year, I'm going to be working Mondays and Thursdays. And it's only from 8:15am until 1/2pm. I can drop my kids off at school and drive to 30 seconds from the school to her house. She's SUPER flexible and the other girls that work there with us are phenomenal. And we only have a handful of kids - this year we'll have a 4 month old, 2 - 1 year olds, and 4 or 5 - 3 year olds(we're waiting on confirmation on one). I love the kids there and it's close to home, convenient and the woman that owns it is like a second mother. I just love her. And the extra money? The last couple of years we've been a bit tighter on money than I'd like so it comes in handy, usually covering kids extra curricular activities or doing fun stuff.

Congratulations on the job!!!!
I haven't worked outside the home in 22 years. I did run a small daycare in my home for a few years. The extra money helped, it gave my ds friends and I enjoyed having the structure to our day. Our stopped once I had ds2.
If I did anything in the next few years it would likely be cleaning houses or doing something like selling a food item out of my home. Baked good, jams or jellies, candy, etc. Our cottage industry laws have changed (for the better) in our state and I have a few specialities that people have told me for years I should sell. I haven't put much thought in it but it randomly passes my thoughts.

Congratulations! I'm curious what's your favorite clothing brand? I was just thinking it's too bad I don't work at lululemon because I'm always shopping there.
