Not the pretty, sparkly kind… Just the really loud, annoying kind. The ones that go off in a chain, and the ones that sound like small grenades. They were also really loud and drunk. All right outside my bedroom window.
I feel like going outside their bedroom window this morning and doing something really loud – like weed eating, or washing my car while playing Justin Bieber. You know, if I were petty that way…

Doncha love that? Fireworks on NYE were not a thing growing up in Nebraska. They sure do love them here in Texas. Starting several nights ago, actually.

Our neighbors were setting them off too. Now my poor dog gets to become a neurotic mess on New Year's Eve too. Yay.

I wonder why so many humans equate loud concussive percussive sounds w/"celebration". Seems like the sound of bombs going off would be the opposite. And I wonder why so many humans are such assholes to their fellow humans at 3:30 in the morning.

I was glad our neighbors weren't shooting guns like they did several years ago. OMG. But the illegal fireworks were all over our neighborhood, and not the little ones, either, the big big ones. Thank goodness it's not overly dry here right now.

We live near a park, and people love to head over there on New Year's Eve and celebrate with explosives. It's like being in a war zone.

I would have called the cops. A few at midnight, no big deal. But a huge celebration until 3:30am? Nope.

I would have called the cops. A few at midnight, no big deal. But a huge celebration until 3:30am? Nope. Exactly this .... In our area, the news has been airing a story warning people that fireworks are illegal this time of year. They also had a non-emergency number where you could report it. We live out in the country so fireworks usually aren't a problem for us. We could hear some guns shooting at midnight which is normal out here. But by 12:10am, all was quiet again! Thank goodness.

That would be very frustrating. My neighborhood was fairly quiet as far as I know--i was deep asleep. However, our next door neighbors have had their 2 young kids out jumping on their trampoline plus it sounds like about 6 adults having a wine party on the patio since a little after 8 a.m. this morning. They are beyond rude like that though.

I would have called the cops. A few at midnight, no big deal. But a huge celebration until 3:30am? Nope. So I thought about calling the cops. It's totally illegal. But it came in spurts. So a few would go off and awake me from a peaceful sleep, heart pounding. I'd wait....and nothing else. Go back to sleep. Then a while later...another huge one. Again...scared the crap out of me and my dog. I actually got my phone and got ready to call....and then silence again. Happened several more times. At 3:30, they must have gotten a burst of energy.... they were very loud and obnoxious. I should have called. It was the neighbor who lives 2 doors down. Not her--but her youngish (early 20's) daughter and a bunch of friends. I thought about saying something to her today--but I don't have time for that. She's incredibly rude, anyway (IMO). She sits on her porch night and day and chain smokes. I'm not exaggerating when I say she is out there all day and night and never without a lit cigarette. Even if it's freezing (she has a space heater) or unbearingly hot. I guess she doesn't want her house to smell like cigarettes. But I HATE cigarette stank and I can no longer walk my dog that direction because it's THAT gross. Dear cigarette-smoking lady...please move. Happy New Year and thanks!

I would have called the police as well. I was surprised myself, I heard several gunshots at midnight around me. That is pretty unusual for my area and frightened the dog but at least they were done in a minute or two.

Fireworks until about 2:30 here and then when I went to bed I had the lovely surprise of my neighbors booming music from their NYE party. That went on until 4:30 along with the very loud talkers who would come outside to smoke and scream their conversations to each other. I should have called the police.

The fireworks and gunshots started at about 10:30 around here. They started the illegal fireworks at 7:30 p.m. here. My dogs were SO scared when I took them out to potty. I had not choice but to take them out on the leash and pray they went quickly. The two neighbors that are extremely obnoxious in their firework parties were out of town. They are home now, and I pray they don't have a party tonight. Ugh!!!! Anymore it seems New Years and July 4th are reasons to party with fireworks for several days/weeks. My two least favorite times of the year.

Same here we had the PD circling our neighborhood circling with the spot light. Plus it's a no burn day here. But there were some pretty big ones going off till after midnight, the Benedryl wasn't doing it for my older one. Poor guys I felt bad for him last night. Pia was knocked out so she was ok.

Our neighbors set some off, too. They let us all know beforehand and kept it to a reasonable amount for a reasonable time. 3:30 is not reasonable. If it's a one-off, I'd ignore it, but if they are doing stuff like this all the time, I hope someone talks to them.
p.s. I have great neighbors!

Fireworks are illegal in our city so it's not something we ever have to deal with.

Fireworks are illegal here but police won't do anything about it unless you call to complain and then they just tell people to stop. Fireworks started here about 11:00. Thankfully my dog isn't bothered by them. I feel for you ladies who have dogs that are terrified of them. It was rainy and drizzling so that kept fireworks to a minimum.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
We had a bunch of neighbors that were still shooting fireworks past two in the morning.
It was irritating, but not much to do about it.
My bigger complaint is the jackholes who were doing practice runs for the two days leading up to NYE. And the guy who's doing it tonight, again.
I'm the old crotchity lady who just wants quiet.

2 people were killed here and several others injured after letting off illegal fireworks this NYE. I LOVE (professional) firework displays, but don't know why people get such a kick out of illegal fireworks. Especially at 3am!! Idiots.

After last night I no longer like fireworks - several of my neighbors were setting them off in the alley, and others up the street. I freaked out when I went out to see where they were and saw that there were some exploding right over my garage! and outside I could hear others going off in every direction around me, some close, some farther away
hindsight says I should have called the police - was too shook up at the time and by the time I calmed down they were done

Don't you wonder about people who are inconsiderate like this? I mean don't they EVER even once think that they might be disturbing someone? There's a rental house around the corner from me --- I'm the second from the corner on my street and this rental is the second from the corner on the other street. So our back yards share a corner of the fence. The family on the corner between us has two young children. The last batch of renters -- who thankfully moved out before New Year's! -- used to have parties almost every weekend. They'd be out in their yard SHOUTING to each other and blaring music and just being inconsiderate in general. It was worse in the spring and fall when we'd all have our windows opened. One of the kids in the corner house has her bedroom facing the rental house. The dad called the police repeatedly. The police would come out right away and shut down the party. And the next weekend or so they'd have another one! And what always got me was that the renters -- three 20-somethings, two guys and a woman -- were very nice when you'd meet them outside. They were friendly and said good morning and said nice things about my dog. Yet they were so inconsiderate about the noise late at night. I never understood it. eta: I just remembered that these were the same people who, after one of our huge snowstorms, shoveled a teeny path down their front walk and along the sidewalk to their driveway. Totally ignoring the rest of the sidewalk. They only shoveled so they could get to their car. Yeah, inconsiderate all round.

Dang that would be annoying, and I would have called the police. I'd be so tempted to play the most annoying songs by Bieber early in the am for that. Thankfully it poured most of the night here, so that stopped some people. It was loud from 12:00 to 12:30ish. I know our city's police helicopter was flying around earlier with the spotlight, so I think most people decided not to push it too much. My cats were freaked out for the first few minutes, and one of my dogs was upset. Other than that it wasn't too bad for us.

I called in a noise complaint about our neighbors (abt. 9 houses away) last night. Bigger fireworks are now legal here, and nothing is done unless they are pointing them at someone/something.
So, I called with a noise complaint since it was after 10:30. Police came out, happened to catch the idiots drinking as they set them off, and took 3 to jail. Woohoo!
