I am a terrible, terrible selfie taker. I don't want to buy a selfie stick, because I don't want to have to carry it. What is the trick to actually pushing the button easier? The angle of my finger on the button never seems to be in a position to snap a photo except with the top (not tip) of my fingernail. And my arm holding the camera, seems to always be there.
I have one selfie I took in car, while I love how the photo of me turned out, the inside of our vehicle is also in the photo, which makes it distracting. What would be the best way to remove that background and add something else to make it a better photo? I do not have photoshop. Is there any free program I can use to edit the photo, that would be user friendly to someone that really has no clue?
My only other option would be to print the photo and then hand cut myself out of it, and place that on something else.
Thank you.

sbartist Not a big selfie-taker here but I have an app on my phone called Little Photo. All you have to do is press anywhere on the screen and it takes the pic. It vibrates when it takes it so you know you have your shot. That may help with not having to try and press the 'button' maybe? Good luck!

On an iPhone, you can also use the volume up button as a shutter button.

Duck lips and raise your eyebrows so you look slightly surprised.

There are lots of applications came out that make your selfie much greater than you think. Look for the apps and make your own best angle. Also take lots of pictures at a same time. Then there's gotta be at least one picture that you like.

Are you iPhone or Android? On my android you don't have to hit the button, you can just say 'capture ' and it does. You can also use the volume button or the button on ear buds works as a shutter release. If you're using the button on the selfie screen, it's usually easiest for me to hit it with my thumb. Hold the phone slightly above your head to cut your arm out, it's going to be more flattering if it's not straight on. Take a few, at different angles and you'll get the hang of it. Remember, you can always crop if your arm gets in the way.

Always try to take the picture from above. Whether you opt for the handy selfie stick, or for an impromptu snap, the angle is everything. Don’t ever take one from below, your proportions will seem distorted and without fail you will seem to have a rather unattractive double chin

If I'm taking a selfie, I usually use the three second timer. It gives time to hit the button and get back into position.

My daughter has the selfie nailed down, so usually I just get in the picture with her lol Those always turn out good lol

First of all - pay attention to your lighting and avoid shadows. Secondly - take a lot of selfies...and I mean A LOT. Try tilting your head in different directions and changing the angles up slightly between each shot so there's a wide variety to choose from. Hairstyle is also important, try to put on some jewelry (earrings etc), they usually look good. Then, try to find apps and filters that you like the most, but be careful - dont over-edit.. Simply embrace natural expressions.. Good luck

Definitely look towards the light and try using the 3 second timer.
I know some folks who will put the phone in a glass cup, use that to hold it and use the timer.
I use a selfie stick most of the time.

If you want to take the photo in the evening, you’ll definitely need a tripod and a long exposure, plus a timer release so that when the shutter releases to take the photo, it hasn’t been moved by your hand.

A selfie stick always helps me get the best pictures One came with a Bluetooth remote that you can punch to take the picture and the stick I bought is so tiny I can carry it in my pocket

I use the timer on my cell phone camera for a selfie. I set it to 5 seconds. I press the button, it counts down 5 seconds and then takes the picture. This gives me a little time to get a good angle down and not try to hit the button at the same time.
