I have several that were made by family and friends. Trying to think of something else to do with them. Anyone have any ideas?

I kept the ones for my kids, now my grandchildren use them.

keep them in the car for something to set on,when someone gets cold, for the drive-in, as a picnic table cloth...

Are you creative? You can turn sew them together to create a large one. Turn each one into a stuffed doll.

I sewed all my daughters baby blankets together and made a big blanket.

I have just held on to mine and my son's, packing them away or displaying them on a little rocking chair I have.
I'm super sentimental about handmade afghans and get a little sad when I see one in a thrift store. While I know there are lots of young crocheters out there, I can't help but imagine a little old grandma or great aunt putting so much time, effort and love into creating the blanket with her sore, arthritic fingers, only to have it given away instead of treasured.

This is me. I crochet and too much time and money go into each and every one of those blankets and there is no way I would just get rid of them no matter who made it.
I like the idea of sewing them together though. That would be pretty neat.
Right now I am enjoying the fact that my grandkids love the blankets as much as my kids did. One of my granddaughter refuses to use store blankets. We didn't even bother to buy a comforter for her bed because she refuses to use it.
