I'm trying to get off soda. It's day two and I want to just take a handful of advil and hide in a dark room. My head is POUNDING! I probably averaged 2 cans of diet coke per day. I don't do coffee, so this was my only form of caffeine. How long can I expect the headaches to last?
And quick- somebody remind how good this will be for my body before I go and get a big gulp! lol!

For the headaches lasted a few days then I was fine. I did not like the withdrawal process, but now I am over that it is all good.
I posted yesterday that it had been 100 days soda / caffeine free. I have lost 15 pounds, my BP is much better and so are my cholesterol numbers. Stick with it, once you get past this part, it doesn't hurt as much. I still crave vanilla coke some days, I don't know when the craving will stop.

No help on the headaches because I drink coffee. But stick with it!!! It's so worth it! I gave up soda a couple of years ago and best thing ever!! I hated the way it made me feel and should've quit long before!!

It's hard! day 2 is probably the hardest, it should start getting better from this point.
I gave it up several years ago but I still have a diet coke about once a month. I had a small one yesterday, it tasted like ass. Not sure why I ever liked it to start. |

My head hurt for 3 days but the third day was better. I have gotten past the withdrawal part of giving up soda several times before I finally got smart and stopped for good. I suffered through those headaches more than once.
On occasion I will order a soda in a restaurant and take one drink and wonder why I did. It doesn't taste good like it used to. (Who knew that before I liked the taste of ass but before now I didn't know what ass tasted like.)
I've been done with soda all summer.
Good for you! You'll feel so much better!

If you can get through the first week it'll be better. I stopped Mountain Dew 3 or so years ago cold turkey and haven't had a drop of pop since. |

Thanks so much, everyone! After I posted, I took a couple Advil and then laid down for a bit. I woke up feeling just as bad and thinking that maybe I would just drink a small one today. Reading all your words gave me the renewed strength I needed! I'm sure I'll be coming back to reread them often throughout the day.
