Exactly as ktdoesntscrap said--Myrtle Beach is too commercialized and crowded for us. Not our cup of tea at all.

I agree with Patter. Myrtle Beach is overly commercialized and crowded. We will do N. Myrtle Beach on occasion. It is still commercialized, but it is a little more relaxed than Myrtle. Although...we did meet a group of friends last year at Kingston Plantation and had a blast. It is technically Myrtle Beach but is situated between the 2 beaches. We stayed at the Embassy Suites on site and loved it. It is Ocean Front and has resort amenities. The rates include a full breakfast each day.

Carolina Beach, NC is one of our favorites. We have gone for 10 years now, but we tend to go in the summer. Very family friendly and the locals are awesome. Can't wait to go back in October this year.

I LOVE Pawleys Island. It is south of Myrtle Beach and my boss used to have a summer house on the island and we would go every year when DS was growing up.
Edited: This is in South Carolina not North Carolina. I obviously need to take a nap!
