Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a proponent of a widely discredited theory that vaccines cause autism, said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump asked him to chair a new commission on vaccines. linkHow about the assholes amend the ACA and make insurance companies cover Autism therapy (a pre existing condition). It's covered under tri care (AND SHOULD BE). It should be covered for everyone.

In the Trump twitter archive I noticed he had lots of tweets (around 30) all still hanging on to that old chestnut about vaccines and autism. He seems to think he's some sort of medical expert on the topic of vaccines as well.
I guess that's another thing the USA will have to look forward to in the years to come - many more children dying from easily preventable diseases because they aren't vaccinated properly.

All I'm going to say about this is that I fucking hate it. Vaccines do not cause autism. That theiry has already been disproven multiple times.
I find it odd that Trump is requesting this be looked into. Why? What is he hoping to achieve by opening this can of worms? Why waste any more money on it?
The best thing would be to include autism therapy (ABA, speech, PT and OT) in all insurance policies so that families can get proven effective treatments at an early age for their kids.

Totally 100% agree. And I have a son with autism.

I would also like someone to look into the role that chemicals in our food and environment have on disease/disorders, including autism. But that would mean fighting the lobbyists which nobody seems to want to do.

And this is why I love living in California. ABA has to be provided to children AND adults.
We have IRC (Inland Regional Centers) that cover birth to 3 interventions, CCS that cover medical conditions, and then specific rights as parents and students in school. Speech, OT, PT, Adapted PE, Transportation to and from school. LRE. I can go on and on.
And yes, it should be that way for EVERY.SINGLE.CHILD in EVERY.STATE. As well as every adult with special needs.
And well yea...VACCINES DONT CAUSE AUTISM. Holy shit. I have 2 kids with Autism.

Or be next door in Acute Peds at a Children's Hospital and hear a mom.scream as her child dies from Whooping Cough because they were not vaccinated! That will haunt me forever. My son can not have many vaccined due to REAl allergies and severe reactions. He depends on herd immunity.

the regional centers in CA are seriously underfunded. I started my child's application last april.. meeting was cancelled on me in Nov, we get the next appt in feb to see if she qualifies... had to hire a consultant.. and it is not sure she will get services. has autism.. and is an adult.
I believe in vaccines.. I had every childhood illness but mumps.. and I would wish none of them on anyone.

I don't know whether Trump did, indeed, ask Kennedy to look into this issue. That said, to address your question, there has been talk about whether his youngest son has autism. If it is true, perhaps that would be a valid reason to look into it. SaveSave

The only 'talk' I heard about his son having autism is from Rosie O'Donnell; hardly someone I'd consider a trustworthy source.

I was saying this to DH the other day. I'm glad I live in NYC, where so many things are covered when it comes to children and adults with special needs. I wish there was federal intervention for ALL states to require and cover certain basic services for those with special needs.
I can understand (not agree with) why people are always in an uproar about entitlements provided by the government, but that should really stop with government programs for those with special needs. Intervention and assistance should start as early as possible. I've seen the difference between an autistic child who got help at an early age and one who did not. Anecdotal for sure, but the only way to really see the difference services make is to actually provide them.

I mentioned this on a thread before Election Day about Baron Trump possibly having autism and how/why it's relevant.
There is a whole movement of people (including Texans for Vaccine Choice, People for Vaccine Choice, NaturalNews, and more) who voted for Trump because they believe Trump believes vaccines injured Baron. Trump has made statements about autism in the past alluding to this.
Appointing someone to question vaccines is fulfilling his campaign promise to an entire movement that supported him who might not otherwise have supported him.
So this is one move he has made that I'm not surprised by at all.

Do you think his son is autistic? SaveSaveHow in the hell would she know? We're talking about a CHILD. I am still disgusted that someone would analyze video footage of this child at 3 AM on election night to speculate on whether he has a medical condition. This is a child - and they should ALWAYS be off limits.
