When we were picking out names for our 3rd kiddo, DH came up with a name and with our last name it's the same as a well known actress... He had no idea who she was but we both loved the name and since this actress is not like a Kardashion or Lindsay Lohan, we went with it... it's kinda fun sometimes... if we see her name on TV (when DD was a little one) we set her up by the TV and have her point to her name/face.. yep we are dorks.
Mostly woman will ask about it.. men don't pick up on it at all.

M y childhood eye doctor was Dr. Dick Weiner. Made even worse because he was a junior. Who is saddled with that name and then passes it on? Lol! I don't think either one of those names had a negative connotation before say the 1970's. My grandfather was named Gay. Look what happened to that one.

My dad's name is Larry. My mother's boyfriend's name is Larry. It gets confusing at times. Reminds me of the Bob Newhart show...of the brothers: "larry darryl and darryl"

When I was pregnant with the twins, we already and one boy and girl name picked out, and had to scramble a bit for a second boy and girl name. The second girl name we picked out is the name of my son's fiancé (and his is the second boy's name).
Had a friend years ago who was dating (and then married) a guy named for his dad-George. After they had been dating a while, she found out his mom's name was the same as hers. Two George and Carol's.

My oldest DD is Aimee Margaret. I named her Aimee for my grandmother, who I never met, and Margaret for my mother, who she never met. Then I found out that Grandma Aimee's middle name was Margaret. And after Aimee passed away, my grandfather married a woman named Margaret.

I come from Welsh ancestry. They weren't original with names. Lots of Thomas, William, Mary.... It's like the book 100 Years of Solitude.

True story, but I am changing the names. My Grandfather was Stephan Lucas. I adored him! He didn't live to meet any Great Grandchildren, so I was always going to name my son Stephan Lucas. Second marriage I have a son and we give him that name. Turns out my husbands paternal Grandfather was Lucas and his brother was Stephan. I never knew this and my DH only remembered after our son was born, when his father said how happy he was that we had named our son after his (FIL's) Father and Uncle! Ummm....no.. I didn't! DH said he had just never thought about before.

I had 6 sisters. One is deceased, five living. My oldest sister was married 3X - all to Mike. I'm married to a Mike. Another sister is married to a Mike.
The second oldest sister's first husband was Mike. They divorced and she married Ernie which is also our father's name. Then another sister was dating a Mike for years and years. They eventually broke up.

Here's a cool name coincidence: Many long time peas know my admiration for Alan Rickman. Well, two years ago I married a guy named "Alan". No, not because of his name. LOL If you call out the wrong Alan in a "passionate moment" no one will be any wiser.

Both of my grandmothers (maternal and paternal) were named Ardis (Ardys).
My brothers are Eric and Kyle. Our first cousins (sisters) married an Erik and a Kyle.
Not names but fun fact -- my paternal grandfather was born on the exact same day that my great-grandparents (maternal grandma's parents) were married. July XX, 192X.

My cousin is Jeff. He and wife had a son, named him Jeff. Cousin's middle daughter grew up and married a man with a son named Jeff. Cousin's youngest daughter married a Jeff.
Cousin is known as Jeff. Son is known as Big Jeff. Bonus son is known as Little Jeff. The poor guy who married in to the family is known as "other Jeff". LOL (at least he has a good sense of humor!)

My DS has an Irish name. After 9/11, everytime we flew, his boarding pass had a big red X on it and we had to go through extra security. Finally, someone from Southwest told us he was on the no fly list. She said that because he was a child, she knew it was a mistake. After doing some research, his full name and birthdate matched up to an IRA terrorist who had escaped from prison, many years before he was born.

No coincidences, but an oddity in that despite collecting names of thousands of people for my family tree and DH's tree, I have yet to find even one other person with my first name. And I don't have a "made-up" name or some really unusual first name. I'm not Plum or Trinkajulibelle or something. There is one wife of a great-great uncle who has a name with the same first syllable (i.e. Danica & Danielle or Janet & Janice), but that's it. I figure there must be somebody, but I just haven't found them yet. And if the name Trinkajulibelle suddenly becomes popular, I know one of you stole it. Save

My dh's name is "Joe" & his sister's name is "Sally". "Sally married a guy named "Joe". So now we have Joe & Sally's Joe. Our last name is somewhat rare - like only about 70 people with it in the US. My first name isn't as common as "Joe". I don't remember exactly how we discovered it but there is another couple named Joe & Flute Peace. I just read this story this morning on the BBC about two guys who met up because their names including their middle name was identical. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-38566161It started when Sam Mitchell, a 19-year-old plasterer in Australia, contacted a 22-year-old British backpacker on social media because he shared his exact name. That's a cool story. Further to that co-incidence.... 2 players from my AFL football team, Hawthorn, left the club at the end of the season in October - Sam Mitchell (yes, same name as the guys in the story!) and Jordan Lewis. One of our new players who we picked up in the draft is named Mitchell Lewis, a combination of the other 2 players' names. So we lost a Mitchell and a Lewis, but gained a Mitchell Lewis. (The photo of the Australian Sam Mitchell in the story Wellway linked is wearing a Hawthorn jumper - I am certain that he is wearing number 5 on the back, which was the football player Sam Mitchell's number.)

My 2 grandfathers were William Charles and Charles William. We had that in my dad's family, too - only it was John Charles and Charles John. John's dad was William - no idea what his middle name was. Charles was my great-grandpa.
