Can you imagine the kerfuffle going on in LL Bean's morning meeting right now?
HOLY CRAP! I bet they're in massive damage control mode right now. I mean, on the one hand, "wow! The P.E. endorsed our entire company!" and then again "oh no, the P.E. endorsed our entire company."
Either way it's gonna be a storm though I do believe most people have figured out that the Grand Spewmeister is just gonna spew no matter what. Can't fault an innocent company for getting caught in those cross hairs.

Can't fault an innocent company for getting caught in those cross hairs. They did a terrible job of dealing w/the aftermath. They should have remained neutral and made neutral comments. Instead, they castigated #GrabYourWallet (the less publicity you give to your detractors, the better - PR101) and on twitter they only replied to positive tweets. They should have replied to all tweets w/a message. A "Thanks" to the supporter and a "We understand your concerns and we take no political positions....." to their detractors (PR102). Instead they gave the appearance of only caring about their supporters and ignoring their detractors. Sound like anyone you know? |

I completely understand the L.L. Bean response.
My sister-in-law is an heir to a very large privately held family owned business. She sits on the board, as does her brother. The two of them have very divergent political views. My SIL often supports Republican candidates but she abhors Donald Trump. Her brother openly supports him.

I would not boycott LL Bean because one person in the family is a Trump supporter. I would, however, like to beg someone on Mr. Trump's staff, anyone, to please take away his access to Twitter. Please please please take his access away. |
