Hello,
My daughter has a cheer competition in downtown Cleveland right across from Brown stadium. Is it safe for us to walk around? Any recommendation for taking her out to eat? My daughter is eight. Anything we should see or do. Thanks so much!

Anything we should see or do. Thanks so much! Yes, safe. Always be aware though! There is nothing right next to the stadium for food. You'll be right next to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame and the Great Lakes Science Center. I would head over to 4th street (across the highways) downtown tons of food and stuff to do. On 4th -(and Ontario) you'll find both of Mychael Simon's restaurants, Lola and Mabel's, Lake Erie Coffee, and a dozen or more places in a great neighborhood.

I have been in Cleveland a lot over the past few months. I haven't ever felt unsafe in Cleveland but it is likely you will be asked for "spare change" if you are walking around. I love going to the Rock Hall and highly recommend it. Some favorite places to eat are, as previously mentioned, Mabel's and also Barrio, which has tacos and is just down the block from Mabel's. We like pizza at I think it's called 213. Portside Distillery and Chocolate Bar are great for drinks - probably not an option this trip but you never know

If you are at the convention center, you are close to the places I mentioned for food. Public square is also close and there are restaurants all around.
Lola is pricey, Mabel's is less but still a lot more than fast food.
Bar Louie is great for burgers and cocktails.
There is an Au Bon Pain near--which is like a Panera.
Flat Iron is a great Irish pub and there is a great German Restaurant near the theatre district (you can visit the chandelier that hangs over the street!)
There are Subway's and Panini's is a decent ALL types of food place.

Portside Distillery and Chocolate Bar are great for drinks - probably not an option this trip but you never know The pizza place is 216 (our area code) on Euclid, and the pizza is great. They serve "personal" pizzas, although given your DD's age, one would be enough for both of you. You can customize them however you want and they're ready in about five minutes. There is also a really fun candy store, just a little further east on Euclid, on the other side of the street, called Rocket Fizz. In addition to all different types of candy, they have sodas in fun flavors like peanut butter and jelly.

Because of the location, there can be some pretty strong and cold winds on the lakefront and downtown. Dress warmly in layers.
