Anyone have experience with this? I suspect I suffer from SAD and after much research I have decided to purchase a 10,000 lux light therapy box. Thinking I can use it in the morning while I am doing my makeup / hair since I stand in front of the mirror for more than half an hour.

I found that a light box was really helpful for me when I lived in the lands of no sunshine. You have to follow the rules about level of lux and distance from light but it was helpful for me.

I have a larger one that was too cumbersome to use, so I bought a much smaller one recently. I do think it helps, but it takes a few weeks. In the beginning, I had to limit it to 10 minutes because it was making me feel sick. NOw I am up to 20 minutes and it does help

One of my coworkers had one about ten years ago. I loved it! I would go visit him for a few minutes each day and I swear I felt better. I do not suffer from SAD, but I still enjoyed it.

My husband has some type of light for his office that goes on his desk and looks like a desk lamp with a pen holder. We live in Pgh. and get an average of 59 sunny days a year, so SAD is very common in our area! Many Pgh. people actually love spring and summer!

I have and use regularly a large SAD light. I never had any bad side effects and always feel better after using it. Worth every penny spent and it gets a lot of use this time of year in the UK gloom.

My son needed one when he lived in Alaska. He said it worked well for him.

I didn't realize there was a limit on usage time. someone at my office was giving one up that she got from someone which I was able to get but didn't realize I should only use for so long. Guess I should look at the brand etc and do some research online before I plug the thing in.

While it's not the same thing, I had DH install a bunch of overhead daylight fluorescents in my basement office. I don't have SAD but I think even those lights make a difference in the winter because it's SO much brighter down there even during the day.
